Question about American Military University?

Hello. I am active duty Air Force. I was checking out the Associates of Arts in Web Publishing and Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology at American Military University. I mainly want to open a Web Designer Business to create websites for Christian organizations (churches, non-profit organizations, and outreach ministries).

Are any of you military personnel that have attended American Military University Online? Are they a trustworthy college? Are they accredited regionally, nationally, and geographically? Can you give me a general explanation of what they are all about? I want to get my peers opinions before I go to an admissions advisor. You know how advisors can talk a real good game until they get you admitted.

I had problems with Kaplan University talking a good game, but not living up to what they are talking about. I also saw the crooket stuff Kaplan University was doing at www.ripoffreport.com. You guys ought to check that stuff out. What is your opinion about American Military University? Are they the same as Kaplan University?

Affordable online DBA (or PhD in Business/Management)

Hi!

Nice knowledge-base and community you have here. I have read many posts and topics but I still couldn't find the education program that suits my priorities. Can you please recommend me one (or a few) in the fields of Business Administration or Management?

First of all, I'd like to study online, so I'm looking for a distant learning program on the doctorate level. I'm from Eastern Europe so programs without residency are strongly preferred, but once-twice visits still could be feasible. I'm not fooled by 'life experience' degrees so I'm definitely not going after such diploma, but an accelerated pace (maximum 2 years) would be a huge advantage, as long as the university is accredited by some honorable body. I'm not an expert on such accreditation agencies so whatever college/university you recommend I trust that it's no diploma mill. The last criterion is the price. Unfortunately I cannot afford a US online DBA of 10.000-40.000 $ based on my wage level. So I would be perfectly satisfied with an affordable online DBA /PhD from a recognized university in India, Hongkong, Thailand, South Africa or any other part of the world. Certainly higher international ranking (and therefore recognition) would be a benefit among such universities, but only as long as they offer a cheap, accredited distant learning program that doesn't take more than 4 semesters.

The very best graduate schools of business--those accredited by AACSB--will NOT accept graduate transfer credits from schools that do not also have AACSB certification. "Regional accreditation" of a business school isn't worth squat.

Hey Everyone,

I am having some difficulty finding an accredited institution that offers a one year MA in either English or Film Studies and would be most appreciative if someone out there can help me... I am hoping to begin my studies in January 2009 with an eye towards applying to a PhD program afterwards....I am looking at National University because they have an accelerated program (one course per month) so please feel free to share your experiences/insights as I am not have much luck with the whole process... As mentioned previously, my main objective is to eventually teach Film Studies or English so I really need something that is accredited and recognized...Thanks in advance...

First I would like to say hello to everyone. This is my first post although i have been on here for a few days now reading the forums.

I figure that if i give you a little background information about my self then it may help to answer my questions.

I am 25 years old and live in Nashville, TN. When i graduated high school i went to college and attended part time for three years. I picked up my english classes and history classes as well as a few other classes. Total of about 30 credit hours. My girlfriend then which is now my wife got pregnant with our son, so i dropped out of school to work so that i could support them. She had a full ride to college and is about to graduate in may (may 14) as a registered nurse and now i am wanting to go back to school. I will be quiting my current job and will try to get a job in any computer field to gain exp. while i am going to school since my income will not be the main source of income anymore. I am wanting to get my BS in Information Systems but i am not sure what online school is the best for the program. It is not so much as i am wanting the piece of paper as much as i am wanting to learn as much as possible, so i am looking for a school that is know for its programs and acadimics in the technology field.

Any help anyone can give me would be great.

Brand new to eLearners -- wow!

I have to say, what a great site. The world has needed a really well organized focused site like this for a while. If anyone has thoughts on the following question it would be great. I live in L.A. and was attending the MBA certificate program at Cal State Northridge, leading to entering their MBA program next August. I loved the cost aspect. Being a CA resident allowed me to anticipate a great MBA for minimal cost. However, the recent mortgage meltdown has forced me to have to change jobs to one that involves quite a bit of travel, which means I can no longer guarantee being around for classroom attendance. So I'm exploring an online alternative. However, the cost universally seems to be much higher per credit than what I was planning to spend at Cal State Northridge.

Does anyone have any ideas about how a state residence can play a role in reducing costs for an online program?

legal studies and hellos

Hello all. My name's Brooks.

I decided to sign up in order to find some advice on continuing my education. I currently work full-time as an instructor at a juvenile wilderness camp; married; live in a rural area. All of these things add up to me continuing my education in an online environment, as it would be very hard for me to rearrange my life to attend a traditional school.

I haven't tried to gain a degree sooner, because I have wrapped my mind around the hundreds of things that I could study and use- where I live, or to gain a better job; a job that would be readily available upon completion of my degree. I've finally realized that I just need to study what my heart is leading me to study. A college degree in anything is better than what I have, and I know plenty of people that have a degree in one area and work in something totally different. I don't want to spend my whole life researching the best degree from an economic standpoint. Isn't that the way I should be going? Feel free to jump in..

I have a huge interest in our constitution and our legal system. So that's where I'm at.. I would like to study law, but may or may not be interested in actually practicing law. Sadly, this is as far as I've gotten really. I feel I will do fine studying online, as I am focused and dedicated. BUT.. I feel lost, so I'll just fire off a few questions and hope for some good advice in return:

-I would like to gain at least a bachelor's degree, if not higher. Should I enroll in an associates program first? Or should I jump into a bachelor's program to start with, if I know that is what I want to study?

-Any advice, or explanation as to what the difference in a paralegal degree and a legal studies degree are? Basically the same thing? Totally different?

-If I go with an associates to start off, should I use a school that I can later attain a bachelor's from? Or is it that big of a deal, as long as the school in regionally accredited?

I guess I'll leave it here, and see what any of you have to say. Thank you so much in advance for your replies.

Aspen University is one 8 week class at a time. I am a current Aspen student. I am willing to talk to anyone about the program and I can even get you $250 off the price if youtr interested. Current students can do this for prospective students. Its a totally legit college and the better schools I have been to online or live. Larry
