Non- Traditional Student

Hello my name is Carrie and i am 55yrs. old i have an Associate Degree and i am seeking futher education into my Bachelors Degree.

I will be majoring in Psychology/ Substance Abuse Counseling is the concentration point for my academic and career goal.

I do not have the Financial Aid i need to pursue a full academic education, however, i will not give up on trying to win a Scholarship to an online University some day.

Saying 'Hello' to the online world, but with some concerns...

Hello everyone!

My name is Joshua, and I am sort of new to eLearners.com. I will first off by saying that I am currently attending an online university (Ashford University), and have been for nearly three years now. I will suggest for anyone looking for a degree to consider them, they are pretty reasonably priced. I am majoring in Social Sciences (concentration in Education) without going for the ‘teacher certificate program’. I have my reasons, and maybe able to keep up with posts on why not to do the program if anyone is interested.

I have concerns however. Maybe some seasoned online learners, as myself, that have tried different colleges please give me some input for the following concerns:

-I am looking for a Master’s degree program that is focused in Education or Instructional. I have overviewed Ashford (of course), AMU (American Military/American Public University), AIU (American Intercontinental University), UOP (University of Phoenix), GCU (Grand Canyon University), Regent University, Troy University, WGU (Western Governor’s University) and Walden University.

Long list huh? I know its long, but I feel that my BA that I am receiving from Ashford, or at least the field of study, is not adequate enough for my expectations in my near future. I know the education field is broad, but the major focus I want is something that is without a licensure program, due to my current status (active duty military) which I don’t have a lot of free time to do as such.

-I know that regionally accreditation is highly important, and I want a university that has great results. Tuition is kind of discounted for me, to a point, plus I have my MGIB to cover the rest. I want to know though has anyone taken the online degree program, graduated, and gone to a big name university, or a state university.

-I know that NCATE accreditation is important and WGU is so far the only online university that is accredited by it. I would like any input from anyone that has graduated from them, or is attending, and has their student-teaching in progress.

I appreciate the help everyone, I will be keeping post up and having important questions, that haven’t already been answered, if I can find any.

New e-learning community

Hi Everyone!

I am involved with a small group working on a free e-learning community called LearningZen. Our site enables users to create and take courses in a collaborative community of students and educators. LearningZen also supports exams and certificates that validate real learning has taken place. Courses are only limited by imagination and what an educator has to bring to the table. We really want to encourage a user based community where any knowledge is simply available to those who want it.

I graduated in 2002 and since then I worked for two years before having two beautiful daughters. Right now I am considering going back to work but these are hard times. I do not have time to enroll in a full time program or to a part time program either. So I was considering the e-learning idea.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with e-learning programs -- for instance the one I’ve been looking into is extremely affordable (about $25 for a package of classes) at a site called NEF University. For this price, the courses could look good on a old resume. The website of the place is www.nefuniversity.org – advice?! Is anyone else looking into online learning?

Hi every one

I have finished two years of media bachelor and would like to continue with a stronger subjects online. Now, it's been more than two years and can't find what I'm seeking.

Here is the detailed subjects I'd like to study ONLINE

Bachelor degree in Mass Communication + Media Studies:

A program that focuses on the analysis and criticism of media institutions and media texts, how people experience and understand media content, and the roles of media in producing and transforming culture. Really I am about to get crazy

All I need is a university offers me this bachelor degree online with these classes

Lifelong learning. How do I calculate units of credit.

For years I left my formal education aside, while continuing on with a wonderful lifelong learning process, but now I’d to complete a degree program in education.

I hope I'm at the right departure point here at elearniers.com.

I am in the process of collecting my college credits, assuming they add up to 60 or more. Besides semesters that included an art institute and a state university, I achieved a diploma (2-years) via correspondence from the teacher training college of the London Montessori Centre, but don’t know how to calculate those units of credit. How can I find out?

I have to say, what a great site. The world has needed a really well organized focused site like this for a while. If anyone has thoughts on the following question it would be great. I live in L.A. and was attending the MBA certificate program at Cal State Northridge, leading to entering their MBA program next August. I loved the cost aspect. Being a CA resident allowed me to anticipate a great MBA for minimal cost. However, the recent mortgage meltdown has forced me to have to change jobs to one that involves quite a bit of travel, which means I can no longer guarantee being around for classroom attendance. So I'm exploring an online alternative. However, the cost universally seems to be much higher per credit than what I was planning to spend at Cal State Northridge.

Does anyone have any ideas about how a state residence can play a role in reducing costs for an online program?

Well I am HVAC Technician graduate from Penn Foster School.

Now I am looking for a distance High school institute whith this I can find Distance University which accept my admission . I want to get bachelor degree in HVAC but Ferris State College staff want me to have an HVAC sassociate degree .

I need a distance or online school because I am in West Africa ( TOGO),working .
