Non- Traditional Student

Hello my name is Carrie and i am 55yrs. old i have an Associate Degree and i am seeking futher education into my Bachelors Degree.

I will be majoring in Psychology/ Substance Abuse Counseling is the concentration point for my academic and career goal.

I do not have the Financial Aid i need to pursue a full academic education, however, i will not give up on trying to win a Scholarship to an online University some day.

Hi, I was curious if anyone had any opinions on taking classes with NEF University. It’s a distance learning online university which has classes which directly correlate with the new job stimulus plan. I’m asking because its not part of the elearners site, but has an amazingly CHEAP deal, they award scholarships to the first million people to join and you end up paying just $25 for a bundle of classes. Thanks in advance to anyone with information on the topic!

Can i top up a dimploma with a masters?

Hi,

I'm 22 yrs old, and working in the HR dept for a local company in Dubai. I wanted to know if there's any way I can do an online dimploma course (online/correspondence - preferably in human resources/public relations) within 1.5 yrs and top it up with a masters degree? If yes, which colleges give that option, because I dont want to do a 3 yr degree course.

Also, is there any college that gives the option to do a degree within 1.5 yrs? Please let me know which colleges are good, and affordable.

Hello, I am currently working on obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Psychology online through the "University of Phoenix". I have completed 1 entire year with the University. Yeah!! I have 3 more years to go. The classes are 5 weeks in duration and as long as you stay on task the curriculum flows easily. You work on individual assignments throughout each week as well as being on a team in each class in which you have team assignments throughout the 5 week course. Just as with any form of education you have some instructors that are better than others and hence some classes that are harder than others. Overall, it is an excellent learning environment. Go for it! It is great to have the opportunity to be able to work full time and raise a family while obtaining a life long dream of a college degree. Thank goodness for technology and the internet! Whatever school you choose to attend make sure the accreditation is up to standard with what you are attempting to achieve.

Applying to a college or university is a very lengthy process. You can take the opinion of someone you know. It can in fact take weeks to fill in all the forms, seek out the recommendations that you need and make sure that you have all bases covered before you actually send it off. It can also be extremely complex, and this is then also compounded by the fact that it will take sometime for the admissions department to read through it once it gets there. This whole process can be really excruciating after a long wait, but even more so, if you know that you have got something wrong on the application in the first place.

There are several methods of applying. When applying for an online degree, the way in which you apply completely depends on the university or college. With some, you can apply online but with others you would have to fill in a paper copy but could then enroll online. Sadly, most institutions do not really give you the option of both. If they did, it would be entirely up to you as to how you applied. However, be aware of the logistical problems that you may have with both types of application.

There are also few drawbacks when considering the internet as an option. While an individual is filling an application, you have to fill the entire form at once. You cannot fill in parts of it, save it and then go back to complete the form later. On the other hand, with a paper application, you have the worry that it will get lost in the post, or that you will have missed out a section and yet have no ways to verify either way. Always keep a duplicate of the application form for yourself not considering the method of application.

Dental Assistant Course at Penn Foster

Hi,

I just recieved the information about Penn Foster's Dental Assistant program and I am amazed at how much cheaper it is than a regular vocational school. The brick and morter school I looked into costs thirteen thousand dollars!

Penn Foster's program is under one thousand! Although there's a voluntary clinical course that probably costs more.

Anyway, it made me wonder if the Dentists offices I apply to will look down on my education. Has anyone had an experience interviewing for this or any other field where you felt that your degree was seen as less impressive than a regular school?

Need Help!

First I would like to say hello to everyone. This is my first post although i have been on here for a few days now reading the forums.

I figure that if i give you a little background information about my self then it may help to answer my questions.

I am 25 years old and live in Nashville, TN. When i graduated high school i went to college and attended part time for three years. I picked up my english classes and history classes as well as a few other classes. Total of about 30 credit hours. My girlfriend then which is now my wife got pregnant with our son, so i dropped out of school to work so that i could support them. She had a full ride to college and is about to graduate in may (may 14) as a registered nurse and now i am wanting to go back to school. I will be quiting my current job and will try to get a job in any computer field to gain exp. while i am going to school since my income will not be the main source of income anymore. I am wanting to get my BS in Information Systems but i am not sure what online school is the best for the program. It is not so much as i am wanting the piece of paper as much as i am wanting to learn as much as possible, so i am looking for a school that is know for its programs and acadimics in the technology field.

Any help anyone can give me would be great.

COST FOR DISTANCE LEARNING

Do we have lot of distant learning universities in africa like back in the western countries.

I have been looking for an online distant learning university in Africa for quite sometime now but i seem not to have any luck.

And if there is are they cheaper than most western countries.

The idea of paying $5000 or less for a whole program would be great.

For a computer science programme

Can you help with any distant learning institution across the globe that would cost $5000 or little more if not less for a whole programme, let say computer science.

I'm a 21 year old male from upstate NY. I've finished high school and started college a couple years ago. My major was Computer Information Systems (Information Technology). Basically I have 64 credits finished, and I have about 10 credits left, 3 or 4 classes. I had some problems in my life which left my last semester with all Fs. So to sum it up, I was a good student until the last semester, and I screwed up the last 3 classes that I had (Biology, Mathematics, Business Presentations). I also had problems with these classes, especially with Business Presentation, because I suffer from panic attacks in nervous situations (giving a speech, etc.). I'm not very good at math, so that contributed somewhat as well, and Biology is something I never cared about. Either way, I have completed alot, over 60 credits, and I have very little left. The classes that I have left are my weaknesses. My questions are these..

1.) Is it possible for me to finish this degree online, even though my last semester's grades are bad?

2.) If yes, is it possible to be ALL online, meaning I don't have to go on a campus? I'm good at this, and every online class I've taken before was a straight A.

3.) How long would it take for me to get this degree? I mean I have alot of credits completed (almost all of them). How would they look at this?

It would really mean alot to me if someone could clear these things up. I do not want to go back to this college and finish these particular classes. I want to finish the degree online, and need to know specifically how. I recently requested a brochure from University of Phoenix as well.
