The Wall Street Journal published an article on October 11th reporting that there is new legislation that forgives student loan debt for folks who work in careers focused on helping others (e.g. public health, law enforcement, and those who become a lawyer serving the public interest.

The White House has posted a special release discussing this legislation. It's called the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007.

During the signing of the Act, the President addressed the audience: "The bill I sign today increases funding for Pell Grants by $11.4 billion over the next five years. It allows us to increase the maximum award from $4,310 -- to $5,400 by 2012."

Are you a U.S. citizen or a citizen of a Carribean nation? The reason I ask is eLearners.com just completed a debt free college guide (http://debtfree.elearners.com) that can help you find financial aid opportunities. I hope that helps. If not, then your best bet may be to see if your employer or country will help defray the cost of your education.
