Without a doubt, you should check into SUNY Empire State College (www.esc.edu). They are very millitary friendly and they have 5 semesters throughout the year- they overlap. It is possible to cycle through more credits that way. Whatever you decide, good luck!

I understand and agree with the argument that different modes of study are better suited for different educational situations. That said, I don't think it diminishes an argument to actually hold a concrete position on something. Yes, statistics can be manipulated, but there's research going back to the 1920's that the mode ...

Check out Western Governors University. www.wgu.edu
They have programs that will lead to certification, although the requirements in your particular state may be different.

I think that it only diminishes your argument when speaking in absolute terms- on either side of the fence. Statistics can be mainpulated to prove/disprove any point.
I have taken many online courses and I feel as though the ones that were administered correctly were amazing courses that I learned a great deal from. The best ...

I took a 1 credit, online class that was all about Excel and how to use it more efficiently in data analysis. It was, and still is, offered through the SUNY Learning Network. It was a really good way to spend under $150 (including the book) and I feel very comfortable with my Excel knowledge after taking it.

Thank you for your blogs. They are one of my favorites. I really appreciate your struggles as a student and a mom.

I like to buy them from the cheapest place possible!! In fact, I just got a steal on a geometry text and it feels great!!! The main reason I buy books from the college bookstore is because the course requires a special (made exclusively for the school) edition or there are components bundled together that would be too hard to track ...

I am not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but you might want to check this degree out:
http://www.albany.edu/its/distance_learning_degree_programs.htm
SUNY Albany is a really good school if it is what you are looking for.
-
Perhaps it would be worth looking at SUNY Empire State College (www.esc.edu). They offer bachelor's degrees in Science, Mathematics and Technology with a concentration in Biology. Just a thought.
-
Just my $.02, but have you checked out SUNY Empire State College?

The link is to the relevant program. I do not know about the tuition of the other schools you were considering, but through the Center for Distance ...

I guess in theory you could take as many courses from as many colleges at the same time as you could handle. I have been taking individual courses from different colleges for about a year now. I am not working on a degree, but I cannot imagine why you could not be working on two degree programs at the same time- as long as you could ...

I would check out www.esc.edu. Most specifically, the Center for Distance Learning at SUNY Empire State College.
-
I don't think the op was looking for a character ed program for college students to be a part of. I assumed they were looking to enroll in a program that would make you able to run a character ed program for others. Perhaps they will respond and clear it up.
-
Character education is huge in my daughter's school. The people who implement the character ed programs in her school are the guidance counselors.
-
Umm...I think I did-to the best of my knowledge.

Hi Link,
Online education has been a lifesaver for me. I have a family and other commitments that make going to a traditional classroom virtually impossible. Thanks to the online delivery of classes, I have been able to get the classes I need. I would not be able to take any classes at this point if they were not distance ...

what school are you attending?
In September I am starting the MAT program at Suny Empire State College.
-
I am going to get a Masters degree thatn leads to alternate certification. Employment is mandated as a condition of this particular certification. If I cannot secure a job I have to change schools and go for traditional certification and hope I can land a job after I complete that program. I feel as though it is ALL riding on ...
-
Check out www.sln.suny.edu
They have listings of all of the degrees you can get online through the various schools. There are lots of Associates available and I think that one of the schools has what you are looking for.

I understand your concern- last summer I signed up for a statistics course, through the math department of my local cc. When the session started, the professor was actually a PhD in psychology. I felt like the school pulled the bait and switch. All of the other sections of the course, (that were being taught by "math" ...

Thank you for the replies. The TAMU looks like it would be worth more investigation. Basically, I need a school that offers a mathematics degree online. The lower level courses are easy to come by- I can get them at tons of schools. At the upper levels the courses become more scarce.
As for the independent study, I ...

I am not looking for a specific number of credits, per se. At the brick and mortar colleges I have checked out, the course is usually 4 credits, sometimes 3. I will check out Excelsior. I think that I am looking for a hard to find item- I would prefer to take it online/independent study. This way when I am ready to go and ...

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, LSU only has one upper level undergraduate course in Math. I wish I would have known about LSU sooner- I could have saved a great deal of money!
Are there any other options out there that anyone knows about?
Thanks in advance.
-
I was wondering if anyone knows of a regionally accredited college/university that would have a course offering in an upper level, undergraduate math course on number theory. It could be self-paced or not, I just need credits in that particular class. One other thing- I would prefer not to spend an arm and a leg for the course. I ...

Another resource to look into is the Algebra solver from BAGATRIX.com. I use the calculus version for my calc II course and it really fills in some of the gaps left due to the online, almost independent study nature of the course. It goes step by step, line by line.
I love distance learning, but I will admit, that I think that ...
