Yes, A degree or work experience is required to sit for the exam. They rigorously check your work experience to make sure that it meets the requirements of a true project manager and not just a site manager. The more direct the experience the better.

No, I havn't looked at their offering but will check them out. Thanks

Just send them what you can afford, that is much better then nothing at all. When my first child was born I couldn’t afford the $2k bill but paid them a little each month for a couple of years. That was better than returning the merchandise (just a little humor thrown in) Just keep in mind that your minimum payment needs to ...

Has anyone noticed a trend in teaching for more hands on learning in subjects that were once mostly taught from the book. If we could just teach math this way! Came across this teachers excellent work with his 6th grade class, talk about getting into your ...

With your hardware experience Cisco offers an excellent set of certification courses that carries a great deal of weight in the industry. Have you looked at large companies in your area, most have onsite main frames still and that is a "specialty" field that is always in need of ...

Azam, Here is a magazine that is dedicated to starting a home based business, they have articles to help you get started as well. Have you though about something like Ebay? If you have the ability to get wholesale items you can make a good profit with only basic at home ...

Gary, I’ve been licensed to wire and HVAC for about 15 years and love it. I was able to use time in maintenance (even though it took more years) and schooling hours to meet the hands on time requirements for the license. I do quite a bit of plumbing as well but never had the desire to become licensed in this field. The Ashworth College ...

So true, a programmer who couldn't write code would be dead in the water. The same applies for web programmers, if you can only use dreamweaver or can't write java or server script you would have a hard time convincing an interviewer.

In looking through the Sullivan U guide noticed that they operate on quarter hours, looks like thats the culprit.
-
Is it possible they were talking about contact and not credit hours? The typical BA or BS would be around 130 with some specialties needing over 140 but have never heard of 180. Could it also be that you will be earning 2 degrees? Some colleges allow you take X number of extra credit hours and earn two degrees.
-
By programmer do you mean writing standalone applications? If so then C++ is the best way to go.
But you can be a programmer without learning code. I use visual basic and java (the real thing, not the scripts) You can build some very good programs and it works just like dreamweaver in that you can design visually or ...

That bad huh? My wife works for the school system and even though she dosn't make much more than my burger flipping daughter she loves the job. I worked at a convience store in high school and couldn't imagine dealing with that day in and day out.

If the material is really hard to comprehend I will read it aloud to a tape recorder and then listen to that and rewrite in short hand. My eNgesh teacher taught me that if you read something, listen to it being spoken and then rewrite it yourself then it will sink it in on different levels and make you really think about ...

I started my education working for an IT degree and like Steve decided it wasn’t for me. The degree it sounds like you are looking for is a web designer and there are several really good programs out there that will earn you a bachelors degree. http://www.elearners.com/search/online-degrees/web-design.htm These programs cover ...

I know it doesn’t count for online traditional schooling but I have had a “teaching” gig with my current large corporation so teaching experience would not limit you to working for a college. My teaching duties includes making a video of procedures and setup and then hosting sessions with participants to cover the material ...

I have never understood why “public” jobs are differentiated from other jobs, the basic management style is the same with only a change in the way you handle the money. Both have to set a budget and stick to it with the only minor difference being if you come in under budget in the public sector you risk loosing it.

I was laid off on my last job the same way, they sold the product we made to a Japanese company and we showed up for work and were told to start breaking our machines down (kinda like digging your own grave except not quite as final), two weeks later all 150 of us were herded into room and signed up for a package. At least they had to give ...

Cajun, I work in project management though IT is probably the worst in the industry for requiring specialty certifications for everything. Due to the general term project manager you have to show certification for your specialty to earn industry respect as well as certifications in various software packages to show you can work with ...
-
Steve, Would your current degrees step you right in to the program there? I didn't realize that foreign universities were open to interchange of degrees to that level.
-
I Ditto Cajuns response on regional schools and would take into account the region in which you plan on working. I have noticed that working for a company headquartered in the North East that anyone degreed from a NE college have a leg up. Our company is spread across the US but most all of our recent top hires have degrees from NE ...

I think the point they are trying to get across is that if you plan to get a higher degree like a bachelors then you want to make sure the classes you are taking now will count toward the higher degree. If not then you will pay for a year of classes to get you certificate then pay again for all two or four years of next degree.
If ...

With your experience in Law and HR would an MBA not be a better option, a little more math intensive but with your background it would give you more options

Maria,
I have talked to several people in the management field and everyone seems in agreement that an online degree from and accredited college carries the same if not more weight with them to pick the best applicant. If you take online classes while you're still working then that shows allot of motivation and makes them feel you ...

I've noticed a trend in "technical" jobs that certification by an industry group carries more weight than anything else. Even with my degrees, most jobs I qualify for require specialty certifications, many of which could be obtained without a degree and with about a many years of servitude.
A friend recently ...

Welcome Amit,
You have joined an excellent group with some very knowledgeable people. Does India have an active on-line education network or are most classes still taught in a classroom setting? Our businesses are really beginning to see the benefits of continuing education through online learning and the ...
