Most ABA approved paralegal programs are only at brick-and-mortal colleges. Pierce College has one that you can do on-line, but 3 (or so) classes are required to be taken in a class room.
-
You might want to go to Legal Assistant Today (www.legalassistanttoday.com). Go under Education...and find the school directory. They keep a list of traditional and on-line paralegal programs/schools there. Also lots of other good info for legal assistants on their website.
On NALS...the association for legal ...

I took my proctor test with Penn Foster this week. They approved a school teacher (bachelor's degree) to be my proctor.

Angel33, I have posted your questions to a member board I'm on. When I get the response back from TN paralegals/legal assistants, I'll post it here for you and others to see.
-
Angel33, be sure and go to NALA's website and check out the clock hours needed to sit for their test. They have several options which include whether you have a Bachelors, Associates, certificate, etc. I believe Penn Foster's has the amount of clock hours needed to be able to sit for that test. Also, check out NALS' ...

Maybe I am taking the advice the wrong way but it almost sounds like because PFC is not ABA recognized I will have a hard time..
Angel33, I don't know anything about PFC's paralegal program personally. That being said, in a lot of states going to an ABA-approved program could be a plus at some firms, but I believe any type of ...

The ABA does not "certify" paralegals. Some firms may prefer that their legal assistants, etc. graduate from an ABA-approved paralegal course, but I can say that a lot of my peers working as paralegals/legal assistants (in Texas) etc did not go to ABA schools. Some have their Bachelors or Associates ...

I just wanted to update you all with my transcript evaluation from TESC for an Associates in Arts. I got the evaluation today. I need 5 semester hours to complete an associates. 2 credits in the Natural Sciences; and 3 credits in General Ed Electives (humanities, social sciences, natural sciences or math). I would like ...

Thank you all for some good advice. I think I am going to look at getting my credits evaluated at one of the Big Three schools. I am also going to speak to someone at AJU to ask some questions. Because I am in Texas, I shied away from the NA or DETC schools because of the Texas' board's view that those degrees were ...

I want to try and get a degree (first an Associates). I have previous credits that were earned almost 30 years ago. I have looked at the Big Three colleges. Can someone take a look at the credits I have and point me in a right direction? At 50 years old, I don't want to go into debt doing this. I got sick while in ...

Thanks for posting this. I was going to post a new message to see if anything new had happened with regard to the Texas' position and their list of diploma mills.

So does anyone know what the actual tuition (cost) is for the paralegal program (associate or BS)? I didn't find it anywhere.

Go to the State Board for Educator Certification site: www.sbec.state.tx.us/SBECOonline/
or you can find a link to it at the Texas Education Agency's website...google for it's site because I don't know if offhand. Look for "Assessment/Testing" caption on the left side of the page. That leads to a page ...

I saw your posts. My daughter is a pharmacy tech. She worked her Sr. year of High School is a hospital pharmacy (the year before the law went into effect that you had to be certified); took the certification test right after H.S. graduation and passed; and went to work for Walgreen's. She was there for 7 ...

I wonder if anyone knows anything about Darton College? Their online classe are $99 per credit. They are part of the Univ. of GA system and are Regionally Accredited. I was looking specifically at their Associates or Associates in Applied Science in Administrative Assistant.

I was surprised when I heard this on the news yesterday, but I agree with what you said. It shows that the accrediting bodies are watching the "big boys", too. I'm a big Red Raider fan also. One of my nephews is there right now. And I am actually named after a former Miss TTU from the late 50's (when my parents ...

Steve, I saw the blog that someone posted about Texas Board of Education saying that DETC/Nationally Accredited schools are "illegal" to ahve. If I got a degree from Penn Foster or Nat. Paralegal Tech, I would have to transfer them over to somewhere like Charter Oaks or Thomas Edison State College in order to even use ...

Have you heard anything about The Center for Legal Studies? www.legalstudies.com. I see that their programs are offered through many colleges...non-credit, but there are 2 colleges, including Adams State, that college credits (6) are offered through this program. That might be good for me, but not for you since you already ...

ParaPuff, someone replied to a thread about paralegal schools a few weeks ago and said that Woodbury College in Vermont had a master's program (they were thinking they had added an Assoc. or Bachelor's program). Maybe you should check that master's program out. I also saw that George Washington University has a ...

I wanted to add that I have a lot of college hours, but due to family etc I never got my Bachelor's. And my major was Home Economics (now known as Family and Consumer Sciences). I have pondered going on and getting an Assoc. degree in legal studies because with the PLS certification I did get quite a few hours that are within ...

the advantage of a paralegal certification is greatly diminished. I've worked in the legal field for 20 years. When referring to "certification" we refer to those who have taken specific detailed testing that gives you the "right", so to speak, to use the CLA, PLS, PP, etc. certifications after your ...

I'll let you know if I decide to do the Blackstone program or if I take an advanced course there. I've been trying to get someone's opinion on it for a while. I already have a certification as a PLS and am not sure if I will take the next test I need to be a Paralegal Professional (one more 3 or 4 hour test, I ...
