I agree, there are only two ways to increase profits, cut costs or raise prices, I'm betting there will be a combination of both.

It looks as if India is looking at distance education as a way to cope with a severe teacher shortage. They will utilize technology to increase teacher accessibility, probably in much the same way we use distance education here in the U.S. One has to speculate however if they will be soliciting any instructors from abroad, such as the ...

Ishq, in my opinion going back to school may not be right for you then. There is no "easy way out" and going to school online is anything but a shortcut. Why exactly do you need the degree? How many hours a week do you think you can dedicate to the effort? You should count on at least 10 to 12 hours a week per ...

Even still, the leveling course gives you an inside look at the quantitative courses before taking the full blown thing. But if you are confident in your skill set, by all means save the $1,500 and 6 weeks and just go for it.

Superior according to who and for who? For some Kaplan or UofP is the best option for their particular circumstance. Otherwise, there'd just be one really big school to meet the needs of all instead of thousands.

I agree with Steve, spend some time deciding on what you want to do before spending the time and money on a degree/certificate program.

It is worth noting however that some Harvard alumni and indeed student and faculty do mark the difference between the extension school and the rest of the university. I read an article and response editorial in one of their school magazine/newspapers regarding the HES and it seems to be something of a controversial subject even to those on ...

I'm not sure what a "Center of Excellence" is but I wouldn't take it as an official endorsement, especially since last I checked the FBI didn't even hire CJ majors unless they had specialized accounting or information technology skills, etc. As for the NSA? They're military so I couldn't say. ...

I believe I’ve written a post similar to this in the past but I’ve been asked to write on this again. A reader noted that in my blog and often in the forums I write about education being just one facet of the overall makeup of someone to be hired or potentially hired for a job. I was asked what are some areas people can ...

Recently I was talking to a friend of mine who likened his job to “mortgaging my life away in exchange for a paycheck”. He hates his job, doesn’t have any heart for what he does for a living and basically only goes to work so that he can get a paycheck to pay the rent, provide for his family and maybe for a few hours during ...

I did an AS at Ashworth and for the money it was a worthwhile investment. My experience did not reflect the best customer service I've ever seen but then again, it cost me less than even a community college once you include books.

It’s that time again, that time that every student dreads or at least should dread, time to order books. The thing I don’t like about ordering books is of course paying so much for something that just doesn’t seem worth it and of course there’s the dreaded resale value, talk about taking a beating. For those who ...

Gary, I assume you're talking about Bellevue, but which program specifically?

I pretty much agree with Steve 100% on this. If WSU suits your needs and desires more power to you.

I earned an MBA and I don't make six figures, but I do earn more money than I did before earning an MBA. That being said Steve is right, there are a ton of facets to earning more money not the least of which is you actual skill level at the end of your MBA program. For example, an MBA grad from U of Penn that cannot do simple ...

Ashford has a leveling class for the math stuff prior to you actually taking on accounting, finance and economics. If offered you should definitely take the course. It plugs in seamlessly into each of the following three classes and without it, I'm not sure I would have made it. If I remember correctly it was Intro to Quant. ...

Hi Brent, I worked in Criminal Justice for 7 years so I can tell you you're in for an adventure. Of the ones you listed above I like what APUS is offering the best for several reasons. First is the price point that cannot be ignored, APUS is a safer investment from an ROI (return on investment) standpoint. Also APUS is pretty ...

My wife and I are talking about the same thing for her, except she's trying to decide between nursing and healthcare admin which is more business than anything.
An MSW or Masters of Social Work for licensing in a state is a different animal altogether and as masters programs go these can be pretty lengthy. I know of social workers ...

Good for you and welcome to the forums. So you're earning an MBA? Where are you going to school? How has your experience been?
-
I agree with Steve's advice. Also since you aren't really looking forward to the "boring" stuff, have you considered CLEP testing or DANTES testing to get out of the first year or so of general ed courses?

Welcome Briana, are you now or are you considering becoming a distance learning student?

A thread on another degree discussion site linked to a Business Week article which covers a few “elite” recruiting firms using GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) scores to determine an applicant’s suitability for interviewing as one of the many criteria they use. These firms basically are looking for top 10 or top 20 ...

That's almost a shame, Ashford's Blackboard system was the best implamentation I've seen.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, I have received numerous emails on how to become a police officer, federal agent, etc. Up until now I have tried to respond to each mail individually but truth be told it’s getting a bit time consuming, I’m repeating myself a lot and of course the longer I’m out of the game the less my advice is ...
