I agree with the previous posters ...what's your ultimate goal, career-wise?

Speaking of obsolete, my husband is paranoid that he (as a college professor) will someday be obsolete. I'm thinking that's a common misconception held by faculty members faced with online education.

I love those precious few days at the start of a new semester where you can log in and start to get acquainted with the syllabus, class readings, etc. It can make a huge difference to feel comfortable enough to really get to work. Welcome back and good luck in your courses!

Love the "At the doctoral level, you repeat other people's opinions and then formulate a theory as to why they are wrong." So true! Last night, my husband saw a story on CNN.com about grading the various performance of senators, congressmen, etc. thus far and thought the final grade looked fishy. He took it upon himself to run the number ...

Agreed, 100%. For me, personally speaking, rankings (unless you can manipulate them to weight criteria in a way that is meaningful to you) have never been helpful in the decision making process. I'd rather speak to current students and recent graduates and audit a course to make up my mind.

It's cruel to post this at lunch time ... all I've had is coffee so far!!! Extremely cruel. Have you ever made bacon brittle? http://www.offthebone.net/?p=169

My greatest motivation is my daughter. Not very original, I know. However, I like to think her excitement for starting Kindergarten next week (eek! Can't believe it!) is, in part, inspired by my continual quest for learning and love for reading. While I've been on hiatus from my master's studies and focusing on work, she's ...

It gives us great pleasure to share the following with you: Warren National University, formerly Kennedy-Western University, has announced that it will cease operations effective March 31st, 2009.

My guess is that you'd be complaining about the format of the test even if you had received the email. Just deal.
Good luck,

I hate to accuse anyone of being too picky ... but what were your issues with U of I and Regis? What is it, exactly, that you're looking for?

As we all know, Thanksgiving is a special day to count our many blessings. This year, in light of the current economic crisis and terror attacks in India, Thanksgiving serves as a much-needed reminder of all that is good in our lives.
I'd like to wish my family, friends, and neighbors much happiness, joy, and contentment as we give thanks ...

In today's edition of Inside Higher Ed, assistant professor Amy Overman describes her first experience with online teaching: an online course in "cognitive neuroscience of memory" at Elon University, a private, liberal arts university in North Carolina.
Believe it or not, but many online instructors have fears and doubts about ...

Are you pursuing an online law degree via distance learning?
If so, according to a recent The National Law Journal article, 'Online Law Grads: Older, No Slackers', you likely:"have little in common with their 20-something
counterparts who flood into lecture halls at prestigious
brick-and-mortar schools each year in hopes of ...

Interesting ... what master's program?

AIU operates on a ten-week quarter system, not a semester system. One (1) semester credit hour equals 1.5 quarter credit hours.
That means that a 3 credit course at a school that uses semesters is the same as a 4.5 credit course at a quarter college (4.5 = 3 x 1.5). So a 6 credit course at American Intercontinental University would be ...
