I'm probably just a tad hard on myself, anyway. :)

I just finished my first PF course, which was an introduction to business one. I did okay, but there's definitely much room for improvement on my part. (I got just barely passing grades on a couple of the exams, and did pretty well on the others). One of my faults is that I have a habit of reading way too fast, which ...

Is it possible to get a student loan (federal or otherwise) for a school based outside the US? (I'm thinking Canada or the UK here).

Many, many thanks for this! (re: ALEKS tutorial) I'm mathematically-impaired, so this will help lots!

Some of the courses listed in the Social Sciences program really look great. I've noticed that Anthropology-related credits can be transferred towards this program, but am still unsure of whether I can take that as a concentration with that particular program. Ashford does seem to be pretty well-recommended, so I've got it on my ...

Has anyone here studied Social Science through Ashford?

HATED:Is a Penn foster high school diploma accepted as a lagit form of a high school diploma in all these online courses im seeing on this site. Sorry if it is a stupid question but im new to the whole school thing and online schooling .
PF High School is regionally accredited, so there shouldn't be any problems. A variety of ...

That's definitely a great tip! :) Thankfully, I'm currently getting my books from PF, but this could come in handy later on.

tedmeister: kcdpas: I agree with Cajun 100%. Last time when I checked, AIU's RA is on probation. I am 100% certain that AIU is no longer on probation with the Southern Association. I believe the date that probation was lifted was December 2007.
I'm not sure if this was one of the issues behind the probation, but I'd heard there ...

Is it generally fairly easy to find a proctor? I looked at this site: http://www.ncta-testing.org/ and found that the closest testing center was in Lubbock (a 2 hr. drive). However, I'm in a city that has a community college as well as a UT campus, so I was wondering if one of these schools would be able to handle my testing.
Also, ...

tcord1964:In my experience, it takes about a week to ten days to receive the course materials in the mail, which is not unreasonable.
This is my experience as well.

SteveFoerster:Is PFC time sensitive or does one go at one's own pace?
-=Steve=-
It's self-paced
-
Cajun:You can actually, and for the price they are one heck of a deal, $65 per credit hour with books included is approaching community college prices.
That's another huge plus with PFC. Even as good as I know some of them are, the per credit hour price for a lot of schools is staggering.

Yup. I figure that the Business Management degree is necessary in any case, so the Irish Studies one can come later when I have a better idea of exactly how I'm going to use it.

Hi all!
I'm studying for a business management certificate through Penn Foster, and plan on transferring the credits into an associates' degree. I'm still trying to figure out where I'll get my BS degree, but at least I've come to the right place to learn more :)
-
Cajun:You mean investment wise? Or do you mean as extra work? Will your employer pay for part or all of this? Have you considered applying for the BS program and opting out for the certificate afterwards, is that a possibility?
I'm currently employed as an independent contractor, so no tuition reimbursement as of right now. ...

<<Have you thought about consulting a certified financial planner?>>
No, but that is a good idea that I think I'll try. This will probably be a couple of years down the road, at any rate, so I have some time to work with.

I'm interested in getting a certificate through the following program at some point: http://www.irishstudiesonline.org/
However, financial aid isn't offered for this program. With that being the case, what would you guys suggest as for building up some savings to pay for the courses? I've considered a 529(?) plan, but am open ...

Hi all,
I'm a small biz owner (a Celtic gifts ecommerce site) and am currently studying business management. As a part of my business, I'd eventually like to be able to offer some sort of online resource center where people can read up on Celtic culture, maybe take online, non-credit classes, etc. Would a degree in social sciences be ...
