    GI BILL

I am currently serving in Iraq and have substantial amount of time at a PC to take courses. I would like to get an IT certificate. Can I use my GI Bill to pay for it. Please advise.

    Hi JCV, and welcome!

What educational support programs are available, and how they work, depend on what branch of the military you're in, among other things.  I'm not entirely sure, but since you're active duty there may be options available to you that don't make you tap the GI Bill yet.  I'd ask your base education officer for details.

Generally, though, you could try finding a program that you like and asking their financial aid people what you can do.  They're used to these sorts of situations.

Steve is right, for example active duty soldiers in some states do not pay any tuition whatsoever to take classes as long as it is in a state school in which they reside.  Another state, Louisiana for example allows vets to attend state schools for free, I'm not sure of the details but it might help to see what your state offers vets, combat vets and active duty service people.  Save your GI Bill for your grad degree Smile
