I raise a few possibilities and questions in the Penn Foster blog.

Here's my take on it.  To summarize, based on some comments from Princeton Review's president, I predict they'll offer community colleges and other small colleges and universities the ability to completely outsource their online programs to Penn Foster College.

I do hope that it is a positive move.  My dd is looking to attend there in another couple of years after she finishes high school.

I would think that with the Princeton Review name behind them that it might give PFC more credibility.  PFC is still much more reasonably priced than even our local cc.

I hope this is a positive move for PF and maybe they will seek regional accrediation once again .It would give PF alittle more credibility in the transfer in credits .In some people's eyes . I am certainly hoping for all postive outcomes with the Princeton Review purchase .Is there a Princeton College ,know about PU ?

This isn't the first time this has happened, there are some other colleges and universities (even some big names) that are outsourcing various program offerings,  though to what degree they do this will be interesting to see.

Considering the number of students it has and it's healthy bottom line, PFC probably doesn't feel any pressure to seek regional accreditation.  For the student, it would be great if they did, but PFC is not only a school; it's a business.  It would need to make financial sense for them to seek RA.  I do see the purchase by the Princeton Review as a positive step.  I just hope it doesn't lead to PFC dramatically raising its tuition.

PFC is a business, and so is Princeton Review.  You don't buy something like PFC and not think of ways you're going to make more money from it then its old owners did.  I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I'd bet their tuition rate is going up.

I agree, there are only two ways to increase profits, cut costs or raise prices, I'm betting there will be a combination of both.
