    Is it okay?

Hello, I am a college student from Manila, recently our government is planning to revise the curriculum of college education in our country. They are making it in a ladderized format: meaning if one finishes a year level a certificate will already be given to him/her that he/she already learned such skills that will be needed in a particular occupation. ( For example, one is taking up a bachelors degree in Education, then after finishing his/her two years he/she can stop for a while and a certificate will be given to him/her that the he/she learned skills that can accomodate him/her to be a teacher aid. Then once he/she is decided to finish his/her bachelors degree he/she can do so) Now my question is this: Is it okay to implement this kind of curirculum and will it not degrade the system of education here in Manila?

    Thank you.

    Re: Is it okay?

I'm an upper school instructor here in the US, and I'm glad to here from someone who is form the Philippines, my mom is also from the Philippines but I grew up here and i think she is from Iloilo?( correct me if I am wrong) I am also new in this site, a friend suggested it to me, Now about your question -I think that yes it would be helpful for your country to put in with the laderized program in your curriculum not to mention that is it very much common in some Sates here and in other countries. It can help your country and its people (being a developing country) to move on for its economic growth because all the man power can be trained very well.

     Hope this helps,

I think that ladderized credentials are a great idea, so long as the different steps really do build on one another.  Among other advantages, in part it would help get us away from the ridiculous idea that someone who's been to university for four years is well educated, while someone who has been for three and a half years, then left for whatever reason, is somehow not well educated.

I think the applied knowledge and experience of such a system would be very beneficial if designed and executed correctly.
