    My favorite advantages are:

    • There's no need to drive to campus and park there or spend time on mass transit, which saves me money and is also good for the environment.
    • I'm not restricted only to programs offered by universities in my city, I can choose from programs offered by universities across the country and around the world.
    • Greater competition makes it easier to find lower cost options.
    • Asynchronous learning means I can study when and where it's convenient for me rather than be constrained by a schedule requiring me to be in a classroom.  This also makes it possible for me to travel if I wish.

There are others, but that's a good start.

To build upon the points established, online education essentially decreases your carbon footprints. Instead of taking a cab or driving a car in going to school and writing on paper to take down notes, you automatically help out the environment by simply logging in your computer to download the notes required for you to write the paper. Imagine yourself taking up interior design courses or business courses, where you get asynchronous learning, but also save your resources and ultimately restore the environment.

all things has its own advantages and disadvantages. And with regards to online study, i see that it is advantageous for those people who cant afford  to go to school. through online, they could still have the chance to learn.but learning is limited. there are studies that online study cant provide efficiently.  like nursing.  this study needs application which online study cant provide. still, looking into its convenience, study will be productive depending on how one uses it:)

The main difference between online study and classroom instruction is the delivery method of the course.  Don't confuse "online" with "easy".  Some of the most difficult courses I have taken have been online courses.  However, the fact that I could take the courses at home made it very convenient for me, because I could study on my own time schedule.

    Re: advantages of online study

With anything you do, there are pros and cons involved....

    My pros are

I don't have to sit in a classroom and hear some boring teacher go on and on about other stuff than what is on the curriculum

I don't have to waste gas.

I don't have to miss too many beats with seeing my family and being involved with them.

I get the same courses and challenges that I would at a brick and mortar institution

I have great confidence in my abilities to succeed as a graduate student and my degree choice

    Cons

You have wait a couple of days for a response if you have questions about a certain assignment.

Computer issues are always a risk.

You constantly have to defend your degree to those who question your academic choice of attending an online university but most accept it.

For me, I don't have any regrets.  Everyone is going the online route and it seems to be working professionally because most employers support the format.

I think it is the best option for working professionals and house wives. One can earn a degree while working or looking after their household. Also you don't need to rush for any lectures or drive a long way.

In the U.S., women who can afford it often take a few years off when their children are very young, and then return to the workforce once the children are old enough to go to primary school.  I suppose that doing a degree part time online can be a great way for them to keep their professional skills sharp during those years.

Steve, I'm hoping my own wife considers that but we'll see.
