    DeVry University

I am thinking about attending DeVry University, and I'm not sure if this is the right choice. I want to get my Associate's degree in Health Information Technology and a Bachelor's in Health Care Management, leading to a career as a Director of Medical Records. Does anyone have any personal experiences they could share with me about DeVry? I have been out of high school over 20 years and I would like a little advice. I know the final decision will be mine, but a second opinion never hurts.

    Re: DeVry University

    Hi Rio,

It looks good to me -- I don't see why the path you've laid out wouldn't get you where you want to go.  I don't have direct experience with Devry, but I do know that they have a good reputation for paying attention to student needs, especially for things like career services.

Do you know anyone who's in a position similar to the one that you ultimately want who you could ask?  Or would you be willing to ask HR departments at larger medical employers in your area what they think?  Theirs are the opinions that will probably help you the most.

    Hi Steve,

Thank you and I did find someone that I know personally who graduated from DeVry, and I will be talking to them today.

    Re: DeVry University

DeVry is pricy but I've always admired how well they network with private businesses for career training and job placement.  I have a friend who is a DeVry grad and went from working at Taco Bell one week to a major Telecom company as a technical analyst the next week through their job placement after earning an AS degree.  That being said I recommend you research every option available to you before pulling the trigger on any one school.
