    Just approved for Financial Aid

I applied for Financial Aid and got approved for a Stafford Loan.  The papers from Baker College showed I was approved for some on Subsidized and some on Unsubsidized.  I know that the Subsidized is best as the government will pay for the interest while you're in college and the Unsubsidized is where you have to pay for the interest.  However, I don't want to borrow against the Unsubsidized part unless I absolutely have to.

Is it possible to have my employer pay for what they will, then borrow the Subsidized part to pay for the rest?  Is the Federal Financial Aid flexible like that.  Would this be the best way to handle it or is there a better way?

First, congrats on making the next step towards your degree.  Second, these are questions that only your college financial aid office can answer as much of this (if not all) is really up to them.

Be careful with student loans though (I know you are), they can come back to haunt you.

Cajun's right that these are questions best asked to your school's financial aid people, but my experience as a student is that there's an annual limit on subsidized loans that you can get, and that once you've used that up unsubsidized is where you go next.  I'd think (but you should still ask them) that your school would set you up with the subsidized ones first.  I'm almost certain that you can pay some tuition from whatever your employer is willing to contribute and do the rest as loans.
