    Hello eFamily

    Hi everyone,

The name's Josh C, Josh. C. (in 007 fashion). I've been involved in education, more importantly the online learning modality for nearly six years.  I've found my journey in education to be a wonderful mix of learning, research and headaches.  Truly, my desire in life now is to be apart of this wonderful industry through teaching, mentoring and writing.

I don't put very much credence on titles or positions but being as the educational community places much of one's weight on it, I currently teach online courses through a for-profit university and another course through a community college, located some 400 miles from my current location.  By the way, I lay my head to rest in sunny Southern California but find that the traffic-ridden freeways is where I normally spend most of my time.  About 2/3's of my day is spent commuting to my professional career supporting a government agency and back home to my lovely wife.  Following a day's work, I hop on the computer and facilitate courses, which I find to be my hearts' desire.  I hold a Master's in Public Administration, B.S. in Business Administration (obtained solely through the online modality) and an A.A. in Financial Management.  I'm a U.S. military veteran of the Air Force, enjoy playing basketball, reading, writing, facilitating courses and most importantly, spending time with my wife and family.

Well, I do hope that can provide an added source of knowledge to those seeking the very thing I was some six years ago.  There really is no price one can put on experience, thus feel free to tap into my thick headed brain.

    Take care,

    Josh

Hi Josh, and welcome!  Since you like teaching online so much, have you ever considered getting a doctorate in public administration so you could also teach at the Master's level?

    Re: Hello eFamily

I've been contemplating that the last few months, whether I should go back and get my PhD or expand my expertise to include another subject, such as English.  Understanding the educational community and the weight many tier-1 universities place on prestige, I've decided to pursue an MA in English, which will hopefully increase my pool of opportunities.

Ultimately, replacing my current full-time pay is the goal.  When that happens, I will return to get my PhD but at a college I am more comfortable at.  The online colleges I've seen offering PhD's, I'm not really feeling those.

    Thanks for asking,
    Josh
