Master of Arts in Humanities--American Military University

Has anyone been through this program?  Is it good?  Would you recommend it?

Hi J, I've not been through any MA program in Humanities or any other program from AMU, suffice to say I now know 2 AMU graduates and one who is still attending for his BS.  All of them have had nothing but positive things to say about the school.  I've always considered them to be one of the best bang for buck schools out there.

J - My wife is in the MA in Humanities program at APU - the sister school to AMU.  I'm in the MA in Military History at AMU.

As far as the humanities program - she's finished four courses and has enjoyed the program.  Some of the readings were a little odd, but that may just be my point of view.  Her recommendations are to search around to find a good translation of what you're reading -- some are much better than others.  She's downloaded free or cheap translations to her Kindle and has found others at the local public library.  I know that she's read two or three different translations of some works, which I think has helped her understanding and comprehension.  She did have problems with one of her professors being absent for some period, but that got straightened out and hasn't been a problem in any other classes.  As you would expect, there is a fair amount writing.

One of the things that she really likes about the program is that it isn't just the "Western" view of the humanities, but encompasses a much more global view.

I'll see if I can't get her to comment here, but she isn't real big on forums like this.

    Good luck!

Similarly, I've heard good things about the school, and I know that they're proactive in ensuring they have a quality faculty generally, but I haven't heard about this specific program.
