    Question about financial aid/stipend(living expenses)

    Hi there,

I am new to this board but not new to distance learning. My question may sound kinda confusing, but I could use some help. I am currently attending Kaplan University to get BS in CJ, I am wanting to change to CSU because from reviews, it sounds alot better. Here is the question, since I am already "stuck" at Kaplan and receive financial aid for them , which includes stipends(living expenses), how do I go about getting it once I get into CSU. Is it a smart move to transfer?  Does CSU help with living expenses? The financial aid part is confusing to me and Kaplan hasn't been much help(which I am now realizing is a huge negative review from other people).

Any help would be great and TIA!

    Holli

Hi Holli, who is CSU?  California State University?  Columbia Southern University?  Cooking Schools United?  Stick out tongue

    Hi Holli,

I think these are questions best asked to CSU's financial aid people, no matter which CSU you mean.  That way you'll get the specific information that will apply to you, and you'll also get a personal sense of whether they're any more helpful than the people you've been dealing with, which you might want before you commit to transferring.

I agree, yes. But does anyone know how it works with paying Kaplan for the classes I have already taken or does it all just depend on my loan company. Right now my payments are deferred so I am not paying anything.

generally loans fund the class prior to you taking it, but it depends on your specific financial situation.  You may want to contact both Kaplan and your loan company to find out exactly what's going on.

I expect that you would deal with the loan provider, not Kaplan.  I don't know what loans you have, but for "normal" student loans so long as you're at least a half-time student, your payments will be deferred until you graduate -- or longer if you go on for grad school.
