Re: PERU STATE COLLEGE!!!
You should probably contact them and ask to be sure, but my understanding is that they use Blackboard, which is the most popular online course system. If so, there would probably be an instructor for each course and you'd have readings, assignments, even class discussion through a bulletin board where you post comments whenever you want to log in. Your instructor would respond when you have a question, and to keep discussion moving.

Re: PERU STATE COLLEGE!!!
I live in Omaha, Nebraska (and attend Bellevue University in-class, but am starting online for the first time).... anyway.. I'm not sure what exactly Peru State's online teaching is like, but I know they are viewed as a "traditional" stated schoo (albeit a small one), in Nebraska, so the online teaching w/blacboard I'm assuming would be more "traditional"... sorry if this doesn't really help -- just figure I'd put in my two cents

Re: PERU STATE COLLEGE!!!
Peru State has fantastic admissions and financial aid personnel IMO. They have always responded very promptly. Usually within a few hours. They've gone up from $130 per credit hour to $157 per credit hour, though that is still a helluva good rate. Fort Hays State University is actually slightly cheaper per credit at $148. I have a friend that goes to their virtual campus and he says its a good school as well.

Re: PERU STATE COLLEGE!!!
want to know how easy it is to handle two classes at a time thru Peru.........I was looking for an affordable accelrated degree progam that offered 6 week terms, but I cant seem to find any........so I was going to settle for the 8 week term at Peru since its so affordable, but i'm concerned about managing (2) classes at one time

I am bumping this thread up because I have the same question regarding taking two courses simultaneously at Peru. Does anyone know if it is manageable?

I'd take one to start, and then after you've had that experience you can better decide what you can handle for later semesters. -=Steve=-

Update: After speaking to my academic advisor, I was encouraged to take two 8-week classes per term (after discussing my strengths, transcript grades, and career expertise) with the exception of some difficult courses that will require significantly increased effort. I just finished my first 8-week course and I continue with my 16-week course for the remainder of the Spring semester. I found it very "do-able" to manage an 8-week and 16-week class, but I am not sure if two 8-weeks will be as smooth because they are fast-paced and double the work. I plan to try it for the Fall semester and I will report back. P.S. My Operations Management Instructor is no joke. Sometimes I think he feels he's teaching a course at Harvard. He has higher expectations than any Instructor I’ve had and he seems a bit rigid (syllabus was the size of a short book with many rules and no-no’s). Despite this, I am still averaging a "B" in the class. It’s a tough class, to me anyway.

Re: PERU STATE COLLEGE!!!
I can tell you first hand, when the economy slowed to a crawl during late 2007 & early 2008 - I wasn't doing much work. So I decided to finally finish my degree and jumped in with BOTH feet. At first I started with 3 classes per 8-week session. Then in the early spring I went to 5 classes. Finally be late Spring - I had 7 classes per 8-week, with one or two being full 16-week courses (college 201 & 401). Was it crazy? Absolutely considering I was (a) looking to go back to work, (b) had a family and new house to pay for, and (c) darned if it wasn't alot of work. Essentially I'd work from 6 AM to 10 or 11 PM PST to get the coursework for one class done each day. However - after 10 months, I had completed 35 hours, and challenged another dozen or so to earn my Bachelors of Applied Science degree. Having experienced the flexibility of the programs, not to mention the great staff and faculty - I was sold on PSC. I began their MSOD program last September, and expect to have my graduate degree by Feb 2010. Then I'll finish my BS Criminal Justics (only a few classes left) and take off some time before chasing down a JD! Can you tell I'm so happy to have found Peru State? Tim
