    financial aid disbursment

Hello, I am suppose to start school on May 4, I am having problems understanding how the 2008-2009 financial aid will be disbursed because I am being told different things by different people in tbe financial aid dept.  I am being awarded pell and 2 direct loans.  Also I was advised to complete 2009-2010 FAFSA.  If the total cost to attend is $11,800 and my award for  2008-2009 is $11077 should the total award amount be disbursed to cover the cost to attend or should it just cover the cost for the 2008-2009 which will be two months May & June I assume and 2009-2010 FAFSA will assist w/the remaining cost of the tuition. The program is 10 months.

    Re: financial aid disbursment

I want to say talk to you financial aid people, but you're saying that they're telling you different things, which is unsettling.  I would ask to speak to the Director of Financial Aid so that you can get a clear answer about what's going on.  Only they have the specific information about your situation to give you a definitive response.

I agree with Steve, that being said usually only the funds for the current school year or semester will be funded towards your tuition regardless of the disbursement, I recieved a refund check for the difference.
