Hi,
Not everyone wants a career as a teacher, but as far as a temporary backup, please consider substitute teaching. Requirements differ by state and school system, but where I live you start at the local board of education and they will lead you through the approval process. In my state you only need two years of college (no education courses, no specific courses in a major), a fingerprint check, and some letters of reference. It's not for everyone, it's not big bucks, and it's not as easy as you think subbing, but it is a backup plan.
