Hello,

I need some advice. I already have a 4 yr B.A. degree from a traditional state university in Political Science. Unfortunately, I have been limited to administrative work, and the job market where I am is not the greatest. I was interested in completing a web design certificate program online and later either branching out on my own with my husband's help (he is currently a computer/electrical engineer)or employment with a local company. I was considering Penn Foster Career School since it is inexpensive & accredited.

Are there other affordable online schools that offer this program? Has anyone completed this program & what was your experience?

Penn Foster seems to have a lot of enthusiastic students on this forum, and they're very reasonably priced.  If what you're looking for is training to switch industries, and you're not looking for a Master's or anything, they may be just the thing.  You may also be interested in certification, such as the Certified Internet Web Professional Program.

Sounds like you are where I was a couple of years ago. I was working as an admin and dying to get out and into the dot-com scene. I am currently working as a Web producer here at eLearners.com. I didn't get a certificate in Web design, but I did take an online course in beginner's HTML (International Webmaster's Association - IWA). The class was definitely inexpensive, but the provider wasn't accredited. Glad to see you're only searching among accredited schools!!
