    Online Psychology Degree

I am currently researching an online Bachelor's degree in Psychology.  Any school suggestions or anyone in the process of getting this type of online degree?  It can be overwhelming with all the info. out there!  I should mention that I would like to place an emphasis on child pyschology/child development.  Thanks!Smile

On the Bachelors degree level there is not usually the wiggle room for specialization such as you've mentioned.  A BA in Psych is a BA in Psych.  You may have some wiggle room in regards to electives but probably not too much.  Acouple of courses one way or the other.  Child Psych v. Child Development is generally a distinction made on the Masters degree level with Child Psych bending more toward Counseling careers and Child Development bending more toward Teaching careers.

Thank you.  This site has been an excellent resource. Now I just need to "wade through" all the information.

    Re: Online Psychology Degree

Hello, I am currently working on obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Psychology online through the "University of Phoenix". I have completed 1 entire year with the University. Yeah!! I have 3 more years to go. The classes are 5 weeks in duration and as long as you stay on task the curriculum flows easily. You work on individual assignments throughout each week as well as being on a team in each class in which you have team assignments throughout the 5 week course. Just as with any form of education you have some instructors that are better than others and hence some classes that are harder than others. Overall, it is an excellent learning environment. Go for it! It is great to have the opportunity to be able to work full time and raise a family while obtaining a life long dream of a college degree. Thank goodness for technology and the internet! Whatever school you choose to attend make sure the accreditation is up to standard with what you are attempting to achieve.

Thank you so much for your input.  U of Phoenix is one of my top choices, it is good to hear from someone in their Pysch Bachelor's program. It is somewhat less "scary" to go with them because they also have physical locations in my state and therefore have accredidation up to speed.(I checked!)  What do you plan to use your degree for?  As previously stated, my interest is working with kids.
