When will the Career Stimulus Package (CSP) winners be announced and/or contacted? Will the individuals be contacted by the University of choice or by representatives from eLearners?

How can you be accepted to an online college/university when you can not pay the tuition fees and books

with just a Pell Grant? Ellis University would accept me if i could recieve a Stimulus Package from eLearners, otherwise i would

have to use a Pell Grant and a Payment Plan i can not afford because of being on a fixed income. Does any one have any thoughts how

i can and where i can recieve scholarships and grants i need them now for Fall Semester and Winter Semester. I really need the help

and support to complete my Bachelor's Degree online, i believe is faster than on a campus/class room setting.

I'm unemployed, have been for a year, and unemployment doesn't pay enough to buy TP these days. I'm seriously looking into Penn Foster College, since they offer alot of programs and degrees im interested in, but of they don't take any form of aid, i'll have to look elsewhere...

I go to Northeastern University and if anybody doesnt know this is a VERY EXPENSIVE school.. one book cost me 149 and the other 100 on book renter the 149 was only 29 and the 100 was only 40!! so you guess what i did .. I was sure to RENT!

What will happen to the extra funds

Ok I'm confused I was at University of Phoenix decided to withdraw since my funds for their second term were gonna be disbursed in May I have half of my pell grant and half of my stafford loan. So I am going to be enrolling in Peru State and their tuition is way less so I will start in the summer whatever money is left over I will use part of it for my summer tuition but whatever is left over (which will be a lot) what will happen to that money I know it won't be saved for the next semester because by then the funds for 2009/2010 funds should be disbursed. Will this left over money be sent back to the government or be given to me?? What if I qualify for a CAL Grant since I'm in California will all that be given to me??? Will somebody give me some insight??????

Extra funding for Doctorate

I have quite an extensive educational background (BS-Psychology, MBA, MS-Psychology (partial), and just started PhD-Educational Psychology). I am quickly approaching my aggregate limit and wondering what others have done in similar situations. I am afraid that I will run out of money just before hitting the dissertation stage!!!

Advice Anyone???

Just approved for Financial Aid

I applied for Financial Aid and got approved for a Stafford Loan. The papers from Baker College showed I was approved for some on Subsidized and some on Unsubsidized. I know that the Subsidized is best as the government will pay for the interest while you're in college and the Unsubsidized is where you have to pay for the interest. However, I don't want to borrow against the Unsubsidized part unless I absolutely have to.

Is it possible to have my employer pay for what they will, then borrow the Subsidized part to pay for the rest? Is the Federal Financial Aid flexible like that. Would this be the best way to handle it or is there a better way?

Question about financial aid/stipend(living expenses)

Hi there,

I am new to this board but not new to distance learning. My question may sound kinda confusing, but I could use some help. I am currently attending Kaplan University to get BS in CJ, I am wanting to change to CSU because from reviews, it sounds alot better. Here is the question, since I am already "stuck" at Kaplan and receive financial aid for them , which includes stipends(living expenses), how do I go about getting it once I get into CSU. Is it a smart move to transfer? Does CSU help with living expenses? The financial aid part is confusing to me and Kaplan hasn't been much help(which I am now realizing is a huge negative review from other people).

Any help would be great and TIA!

Im wondering if anyone is aware of any special programs for college students, financial help wise? I am currently attending Liberty University Online and through Pell Grants and Loans, I have tuition covered, but my everyday bills are still adding up with no job! Is there any programs that I am un aware of, that could save me money on groceries, insurace, etc? Any Ordinary bills?

Irish Studies Certificate-No Financial Aid

However, financial aid isn't offered for this program. With that being the case, what would you guys suggest as for building up some savings to pay for the courses? I've considered a 529(?) plan, but am open to bright ideas.

Scholarships for single mothers

I was recently given information about a scholarship program for working single mothers. I applied, but was told that I am ineligible due to the fact that my daughter's father, though we are not together in any sense of the word, still lives in my home. He's disabled, and fighting Social Security for much needed assistance, and I promised him and our daughter that I would help him until he was able to help himself. In other words, we barely scrape by in a three-person, one income household. My question is, if you are not married, and not even dating, wouldn't that be the same as being a single mother? To me, our living arrangement is out of practicality, and is more like a roommate situation. Mothers who live in roommate situations to share costs are still considered single, so I'm not sure why I'm not eligible. Has anyone else had this problem, or can someone shed some light on why the rules are set up this way?

Hello,

I had researched online colleges previously based upon my expectation of paying it all myself, and decided on Penn Foster for a graphic design degree. I am not looking for a loan, don't want any debt hanging over me. I just recently got my GED test results back and scored a 3550 total, with a 710 average, which according to their chart, puts me in the top 1%. So now I'm wondering about scholarships. So far(just beginning my research) the only scholarships I've seen that can be used for online education were not merit based, kind of luck of the draw. Does anyone know of any that would take my score into account so I'd have a better chance? Thanks.
