Need Advice about Online Education and Going Back to School Online

Another school which offers a Bachelor of Arts in Degree completion is DePaul University, out of Chicago. I don't have any personal experience with them [a friend of mine got an MBA from their traditional school, and didn't have any complaints], but the description suggests that your experience can count toward credit.

They are an online school located in Trenton, NJ. They definitely have some good programs but poor customer service. Give their 800 number a call, ask a couple of basic questions about their programs and stand by for the send enrollment an e-mail, they should be able to help you speech. Then stand by for the $75.00 app fee reply. This school has really torqued me. Like everyone says, they probably transfer in most RA credits, getting in the game is what's annoying. You also need to be close to conferring your degree or you do pay hefty fees.

TESC, Exelsior and COSC are different from most other schools in that you take your courses from a variety of other schools and sources, or test out of the courses you need to take through CLEP, DANTES and other exams and transfer them all into your degree program. TESC does offer some online courses, but probably not enough to satisfy your entire degree program. For example, one could transfer 40 credits to TESC, test out of many other courses, and take a few TESC courses to complete their degree.

Also the tuition for out of state is around $6000 dollars. Can anyone help me in finding a college in Florida that offers Bachelors degree in Health Sciences online?

I live not far from TESC in New Jersey. I have called numerous times and I am definitely NOT IMPRESSED. Maybe if I can get by the $75.00 registration fee and the send them all my transcripts before they will answer a question deal, I would think they are a pretty decent school. Their website looks professional and they have a diverse set of degree programs. What torques me about them is they don't like to answer questions w/out you sending them $75.00. Try it....call them at their 800 number and see for yourself how they answer your questions. This would make me think if I get this response this early in the game, what else do I have to look forward to? Maybe once your in, the're pretty decent. I just think their $$$$ first, academics second. My dealings w/Excelsior were much better but I brought all my credits in through community colleges and SMART transcript. I don't know how they are by taking their courses. I really wanted to take TESC's ASAST in Environmental Science and finish up my last 4-5 courses for their BA in Liberal Studies but seriously, I can't get by their poor initial customer service. I wish others would post the same types of messages, prospective students have a hard enough time trying to think what they want to do in this world and how to get there w/out putting up w/that.

The fastest degree programs I know of (which allow maximum credit transfer):

Excelsior

Thomas Edison State College

Charter Oak State College

Athabasca University (I believe you do have to take 30 credits with this one, but you'll want to check. They are a Canadian school, but have regional accreditation in the U.S.).

Also worthy of mention:

California Coast University is nationally accredited, but they do seem to accept a lot of transfer credit, give credit for prior learning, the price is right and I have seen students finish in under a year. If I remember correctly, students are not allowed (by California State Law) to earn a degree in less than 9 months.

You may want to take a look at Excelsior as well. They have a good system for pulling together a mish-mash of credits from different places and helping students to move on to the completion of their degree. Lots of military people use them since they often end up taking courses here and there as they are transferred around the country/world.

Thomas Edison State College has a diversity of online programs; here's what they have to say:

"You may earn credit through online courses, guided independent study, examination programs, transfer of previously earned credits, professional and military training, and by demonstrating college-level knowledge acquired outside the classroom."

Your work history will especially accelerate your efforts and help you earn credits towards your bachelor's degree.

Hello,

I have about 40 transferable credits from way back when. :-) But I do have an awesome resume and work history, have served on many boards, and have some non college training.

I will be relocating soon and would like to complete my bachelor degree as quickly as possible. Can anyone recommend the fastest programs available? Programs that allow a lot of portfolio assessment, etc.? I can take some time off and pretty much work around the clock to knock this out if I can find the program that will let me take a heavy load.
