What is the best way to get experience in the field while I study? Any thoughts?

Hmmm ... Social work is very broad ... so I think the answer would depend on which area you are interested in, such as:

Substance Misuse and Addictions

Aging

Child Welfare

Public Welfare

School Social Work

Justice/Corrections

Developmental Disabilities

Employment/Occupational Social Work

Health Care

Mental Health/Clinical Social Work

Community Organization

I think there are alot of volunteering opportunities available in many of these fields probably within your local community. Have you talked to your program director about how to gain experience as a student?

Advice about career in social work

Hello all-

I am working towards my BS/Behavior Sciences with a focus in psychology.
