They are making it in a ladderized format: meaning if one finishes a year level a certificate will already be given to him/her that he/she already learned such skills that will be needed in a particular occupation. ( For example, one is taking up a bachelors degree in Education, then after finishing his/her two years he/she can stop for a while and a certificate will be given to him/her that the he/she learned skills that can accomodate him/her to be a teacher aid. Then once he/she is decided to finish his/her bachelors degree he/she can do so) Now my question is this: Is it okay to implement this kind of curirculum and will it not degrade the system of education here in Manila?

Thank you.

what will happen.

I'm a third year college student in the Philippines. I'm a management major doing some research on educational video games:

Just wanted to ask if you have any good sources/references/insights/anything interesting about video games being used in education? especially in the collegiate level.

Things I want to find out are:

>The usual target segment for these games have been children, are there games that are educational that are targeted for a mature/college-level audience?

>How has the educational games market been doing? Do teachers really use it? Would you use it to teach college students?

>Are there any MMO(Massive Multiplayer Online) educational games?

>How about Online Classrooms similar to video games?

>anything interesting/ keep in mind about either or a combination of 3D/MMO/Educational Video Games

Im looking for really good material :) The end project is i'll be doing a sort of 3D MMo educational videogame using the projectwonderland engine, im doing the background of the study.

Thank you so much!

Is it just me, or is the growth of online education not meeting expectations?

A little over a year ago, I began searching for colleges that offered a BS in Computer Science degree entirely online. I found six (Florida State, U of Illinois, Chico State, Regis U, Franklin U, and Mercy College). I've tentatively decided on either U of Illinois or Regis, but I'm not entirely happy with either of them for a number of reasons. I'm still working on my prerequisites at a community college, and at the time I started, I figured that when I was ready to transfer I would have a few more options.

In the interim, I've tried everything I can think of to find additional online BSCS programs, and there simply aren't any. I haven't spent as much time searching for programs in other fields, but my impression is that the situation is the same at least for other sciences, such as math and physics. While the number of online courses in general does seem to be growing, I haven't seen any real growth in online degree programs, at least at the undergraduate level. In fact, in a few cases a google search for an online program would link to a dead page, and a search of the site reveals that the program is no longer offered online.

Maybe I'm just frustrated because I will soon have to start selecting elective courses, and choosing the wrong ones to transfer could cost me a couple of semesters. But I had really believed that online education was about to enter a major growth phase, and I'm not sure why I haven't seen at least the beginnings of this, even in such a short time frame.

Is there substantial growth in online degree offerings in other fields that I haven't noticed? Am I expecting too much too soon? Or has the prophesied explosion in online education simply failed to materialize?

Online Degrees at Saint Leo University

I recently graduated with a business administration online degree from Saint Leo University and it was the smartest decision I have ever made. massive layoffs, employers cannot find enough skilled workers.”

Projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that, during
the next decade, 45 percent of job openings will be in “middle-skill”

construction supervisors and machinists to dental hygienists and
paralegals. Still, those on the Brookings panel expressed concern that
projections for the public attainment of skills necessary for these
jobs does not appear to meet the high demand.

I'm currently in the US (I'm a citizen) and am thinking about advancing my career and education, but I'm not sure if the best way to go is by getting a 2nd bachelor's degree or going straight for a master's degree, both would be in MIS.
The reason I'm thinking about a 2nd bachelor's degree is because American degree's are recognized worldwide and are generally harder, more thorough, and require more work than master's degree (I would have my credits transferred, and would probably required to take 3-4 semesters). However, I'm not sure how useful it would be to have 2 undergrad degrees when I could just go for a master's degree. I'm a bit concerned that a master's degree might be more beneficial if I had more work experience, or be too challenging since there's a possibility my international degree might not be of the same standard of the typical American undergrad degree which the master's would be based on.
Any thoughts?

Online Education

Is getting a degree in education frowned upon by employers? Supposedly, the FBI are operating these sites as a sting to find out who is purchasing them and track what they are being used for.

On one of the blogs I read, one person lost their job, and only after threatening to sue the company did he learn that he was being investigated by the FBI for purchasing a fake diploma from one of these sites. According to him, these are the sites that are currently being used by the FBI - phonydiploma.com, phoneydiploma.com, diplomacompany.com, nextdaydiplomas.com, realisticdiploma.com, and realisticdiplomas.com.

Pretty creative! I guess you better think twice before buying a fake diploma online!
