In addition, Aspen is federally accredited but not regionally accredited.

What is the difference between the two?

please suggest me how is aspen, its courses etc.

anyone, with the same above specialisation..

i see there were 12 courses in total...will there be a written test after each course, or after every 6 course or in the middle of the term or will it be only at the very end...

Aspen response getting slower?

I've noticed that recently (couple of weeks/a month) Aspen has begun answering mails more slowly. Anyone else experiencing this?

Before they often answered the same day, and never more late than the second day.

Now it can go over a week before they answer, and even more.

I've also noticed that they have an exceptionally high degree of job rotation.

Maybe David is implementing so many changes that they have to cut down on feedback time?

Hmmmm.....

APA should be one of the standard formats of referencing. However; every professor seems to have his own opinion in relation to correct use of APA.

I'm a little bit stuck right now, so if there are any APA experts here, maybe you could help with this one problem.

Here is the case:

This is from the textbook:

"In addition, the arguments that higher levels of formalization and lower
levels of centralization are found in larger organizations received support from
studies by the Aston group (Inkson, Pugh, and Hickson, 1970; Mansﬁeld, 1973;
Pugh et al.,1968) as well as those by Blau and his colleagues (Blau,Heydebrand,
and Stauffer,1966; Blau and Schoenherr,1971; Klatzky,1970a) and a number of
other researchers"

The book we use is:

Tolbert, Pamela S., Hall, Richard H. (2009) Organizations Structures, Processes, and Outcome 10ed USA: Pearson Prentice Hall

My initial thought would be to reference as this:

And then end the assignment with the reference to the book:

However; this was totally wrong, it seems, and I can’t find a reference to how I am going to use in-assignment references to authors that are referenced in a book, as mentioned above.

The book uses a LOT of references throughout the text, and I am now a little bit lost in how I will make a reference to them in my assignments.

The above structure worked fine with other professors, but this professor gives me thumbs down.

Any help appreciated; if only a link to a good example......

Man....I'm tired

I'm seriously beginning to feel tired, and I feel like my progress is like glue.....

Especially weekends with three kids are taking a toll on me.

With one kid I was able - with the help of my spouse - to study from morning until night on weekends.

With two kids I was able to study a good 4-5 hours on day-time weekends, and thereafter from 20:00

With three kids...MAN - I'M EXHAUSTED

All my energy going totally down the drain during the day. The kids get up at 05:30, and it's full throttle until 19:45. Two adults needed all the time.

I have to rest 45-60 minutes before starting my studies, but even then - when starting around 21:00 - I'm wasted

Doesn't make things anything better that I'll have to hit the sack before 00:00 since I have to have a clear mind on my work the next day.

I sincerly hope that our new boss - D. Lady - doesn't change anything before I finish my MBA. A new scenario would be the last I need now. (Don't think he will thoough. He seems like a very reasonable man).

After completion of my MBA-PM from Aspen, now I am researching into online Doctorate programs. I had this discussion earlier with a few members here, and they had pointed to institutions in South Africa, India and USA. Now totally bent to get into doctorate program, I need your inputs again.

New Capstone advisor

As I'm sure everyone know there have bee some changes at the upper level of Aspen. Besides a new president,the Chief Academic officer is also gone. Dr Tim Brown is know a Capstone advisor. I highly recommend him. He knows his stuff and is fair. Also Dr Brown does return emails very promptly. So consider requesting him when getting ready to do your Capstone project

I am trying to decide if I should take 510 or 520 or 646.
I would appreciate if anyone who take any of these courses can give me some feedback on those courses.

Well - I try the best I can to be positive towards my own university, but sometimes it just is enough....

When I start my courses, I always print the modules, so that I have them on paper.

On a previous course I did this, and started delivering the modules.

Suddenly the professor started to tell me that I was handling in the wrong assignements. Can't be, I said.

I checked, and guess what. Aspen had CHANGED the modules without informing me. This happened AFTER I was enrolled, and had begun the course.

I had intensive dialogue with Aspen, but they could not tell me why it happened. Time wasted for me.

Guess what. Today the same stuff happens again on my new course. I have almost completed M2 on 590 Organizational behavior, and when I check the modules, THEY HAVE CHANGED IT AGAIN. This is nothing but sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.....

I started out with the 2005 version of the book, and now they have - again WITHOUT informing me - changed the book to the 2009 version, with completely different assignments. Hello? I really do not have the time for this......... Now I have to contact them AGAIN, and interrupt my study routine. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy

PLEASE READ: Separate threads for separate subjects

May I suggest that we try to create separate threads for separate subjects? The existing "giant" thread on Aspen is, as I see it, to large to be useful for reference purposes. Of course you can use the search function, but it would be more transparent if we used designated threads for particular subjects.

Now the "giant" thread includes, taken from memory, information about the exams, about the doctorate, about the quality of education, about the capstone project, about the school in general etc. All these subjects would be better off in separate threads, as I see it.

Consensus on Aspen final

So there is now a choice between a multiple choice final (100 questions?), or writing three essays. Which seems the better choice? I know on the surface some may say the three essays would be easier, but things are not always what they appear. What do you all think? Which will you pick, and why?

I've been a satisfied Aspen student so far, but now I am beginning to be less satisfied.

Actually I am beginning to feel a litte annoyed by the way Aspen is introducing new elements into the courses after you have signed on.

1. First they introduced the mandatory "lecture" notes, which have absolutely no value at all, and which makes the MBA $900 more expensive for me.

2. Secondly they introduce mandatory discussions on the independent module, forcing students to post discussions. For me such discussions adds no value, and I will be left with less time to complete the assignments.

I think I will formally have to reduce my overall view of Aspen from "great" to "ok".

New to elearning - how does Aspen Uni. do it???
