i want to pursue a good accredited masters degree online, and Im thinking about earning it from UOP..but how much does it cost per course???

I'm currently attending UOP and am curious what type of careers can an individual apply for if they obtain the BSIT degree? I highly doubt BS-IT degree is equivalent to a CS degree because IT does not even touch the depth of programming and logic that CS does.

Several companies require that you have a BS in Computer Science or Engineering when applying. So what other options are there?

Bear in mind, I've worked in the IT industry for over 10 years and the majority of the jobs require your degree to be in Computer Science or Engineering, not IT.

Master of Science in Healthcare Management

I work full-time, and I am single, so I need to get my degree online. I looked at Walden University, AT Still and the University of Phoenix. Which online programs are widely accepted? I am in the healthcare field, but I don't have management experience. I just read some troubling things about the University of Phoenix, but nothing about the program I am interested in.

EdD at UoP

Hello. I am considering attending UoP for an EdD degree in Instructional Technology. My major concern is how UoP will be viewed when applying for online teaching jobs. Looking at their program, it seems just as intensive as others out there. With that being said, I would hate to invest time and money for a terminal degree which will hinder my ability to teach at the college level. Thoughts, suggestions?

Question about BSB/SEM or BSBA to MBA

Here is another question for all you experts out there that I was thinking about today. For some reason I have started to think way into the future about an MBA as it is a couple of years away and it is never to early to come up with plan. As some of you know I have enrolled in the BSB/SEM program at UOP. When I decide that I want to get my MBA which could be soon after my bachelors, if I transfer to another school for my MBA, will I have to take more classes going into it with the bachelor of science in business/ green and sustainable enterprise management than I would with a bachelor of science in business administration? Another words is it beter to go into an MBA program with a BSBA than it would be for a specialized degree such as the BSB/SEM? The BSB/SEM is still a business degree it just concentrates on sustainability. I hope this is a legitimate question because it could have an effect on the BSB/SEM program that I will be starting in October. I still have time to change if I want too and am still just weghing all of my options before I am completely committed. AARGH!!!! the mind does wander working nights at the powerplant.

Team learning VS individual learning

I will be starting my bachelors in a few months at UOP and was wondering how the team learning concept works. So far I have heard mixed results and was wondering if any current students or alumni could shed a little light on the subject and talk about their experience with team learning at UOP. From what I understand team learning is supposed help you get prepared for real world challenges because most people work in groups or teams and it is usually a group or team effort. This all sounds good but I have also heard that your grade is dependent on others pulling their own weight on the group assignments, which does make sense since everyone in the group is supposed to be involved. I must admit that I am a little weary about this because I put a lot of time and effort into keeping my grades high, and the thought of someone else dragging my GPA down concerns me.

Also how is the transition from going to 2 nine week courses to 1 five week course at a time, to me it sounds much easier. I have been taking two classes at a time now for a couple of years and the thought of one class at a time sounds like a breeze to me.

Positive experience at Axia

Hi everyone I am new here and would just like to tell everyone about my positive experience at Axia. I have 2 classes left until I am finished with my associates in business at Axia and it has been great. My GPA is a 3.98 and have found most of the coursework very challenging. This is coming from someone who graduated from high school in 1985 with fair grades. I was looking at possibly going to another school after my associates for either my bachelor of science in business administration or business management just because of cost and nothing else. I have however decided to stay and enroll in the new BSB/SEM program at UOP. From what I understand the bachelor of science in business with an emphasis on green and sustainable management online format is the first in the world. I work for the power industry and green and sustainable energy is the future. I don't care what business you are in, everything is trending towards this. I just do not see how anyone could go wrong with this type of degree because of the trend towards renewables and going "green". I have done some extensive searching for this type of online degree and UOP is the only online school that I can find that offers it.

I am a little weary of the online learning teams but I figure if I can do this well now I should be able to pull it off no problem. It might take some adjusting to, but I am OK with that. The trick to doing well at Axia is to read the material, and there is a lot of reading material. There are also some very lengthy and indepth writing assignments (1750-2400) words in APA format, and lengthy PowerPoint presentations (12-15 slides). Another trick is to print out all of the reading assignments, that way you can highlight what you need to know and you can read them anytime.

I was also curious to see if anyone else had signed up for the BSB/SEM program at UOP and what their experience has been. I know they started this program last year and I am not even sure if the students have gotten through their core classes yet because of how new the program is. I am just sick of people bashing Axia and UOP. With some effort I have managed to excell their with no problems whatsoever. I do have some more tricks and pointers to any of you who have just started the associates program at Axia.They sure have made it easier for me anyway and I would like to pass them on to others just starting out. By the way I welcome all questions and comments; positive, negative or otherwise.

With all the bashing of Univ of Phoenix, I went to the BBB to check them out. Oddly enough, there were only 3 complaints on file for the past 36 months. All of which were cleared up. So if these disgruntled employees or ex-students have such legit complaints, why aren't there more on file with the BBB?

I also did a search on the college in my area and the other online college that I was thinking about attending and both of them had 1 complaint. They aren't anywhere near as large as U of P.

Does this mean anything?

I am checking out this course, "Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership/Information Systems and Technology" from UoP. Has anyone else done it befire? Any input would be much appreciated!

By the way, I would like to know

Is it worth doing this certificate from UoP
How much is it gonna cost to complete all that 60 credits? Any vague estimation?
How will the materials be distributed and classes be conducted as I am living in India?
For Doctrate, we sure need to submit our thesis. Who/How will I be able to choose a guide for me? Is it dependent on me or will the UoP authorities will decide that?
To get these 60 credits, various courses needs to completed. Is there a time limit that one need to do only one course per semester or something like that? Or can it be done at our convenient interval of time?

GOD! I have a lot question. Sorry to bother you guys, I am just trying to understand the stuff before I jump into it. When it comes to English knowledge, I have done my BEC Vantage and BULATS. Are they enough? Or do I need to do the TOEFL as well?

Alright, I have just found that UoP has listed the fee details at http://www.phoenix.edu/tuition_and_financial_options/tuition_and_fees.html/f/country/in/f/area/technology.html

However, for Doctorate programs, the tuition fees is mentioned as $720 per credit. As Doctorate is a 60 credit program, do I have to pay 60* $720 = 43200 USD just for the tuition fees alone? It comes to around 2 Million INR Lol I guess I sure must be wrong in that calculation. Does any one care to explain, please? Also, can I choose not to have the tuition so I can avoid that fee? or is it mandatory?

I recently enrolled in classes but have not started yet. I wanted to do the associates in business program but when I was doing the application online with my enrollment councelor the associates in business was not on the drop down list when selecting program of choice. She told me the name was changed to associates in financial services and they were the same. But when I look over the programs outline I see both financial services and business as options. I am having doubts and am questioning if they are the same degree. Aren't the two associates degrees different or am I wrong. I know that she should know that answer but the question is still nagging me and I want someone elses answer. I want to take classes for my Associates in Business so I need to know 100% that they are the same .

I'm Jessica, BTW, just turned 28 and am a first time college student. Been attending Axia/UoP since September '07.

Master of science in Accountancy with UOP

I'm going to enroll into the Master of science in accountancy program and would like to get feedbacks from those students who are already in this program. I understand that this is fairly new -two month old course that has been created for students who wants get prepared for a uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

UOP, another question

Hi everyone. I have read the posts about the online colleges and I have some questions. Here is a little info about me.

I am a SAHM of 4 kids. I have no college credits, and have been out of the loop for 10 years. I am not sure what will ultimately be my major. I either want to be a teacher or a nurse. Yes, 2 very different jobs. I was thinking of getting my Associates or Bachelors in Psychology. This way I can move on to a University near me and get my Masters in Education or my BSN.

I have read so many terrible things about UOP/Axia. I think this is the only site that hasn't bashed them over and over. I like the fact that they are a faster program and won't take me 7 years to get my Bachelors.

So let's I am "buying" my degree (so I have heard) and UOP isn't a "greatly" accepted school, but I go on to get my BSN or Masters in Education from another college locally, will my degree from UOP still look frowned upon?

Any information you can provide me is greatly appreciated.
