CLEP, DSST, and the Big Three

Dennis is totally right, CLEP and DSST exams can save you a lot of money.  Just be sure that whichever school you're selecting will accept them (almost all do) and that the tests you're considering won't duplicate any transfer credit.

It's also true you may want to look at Thomas Edison State College, Excelsior College, and Charter Oak State College, especially if you may have a lot of transfer credit or were in the military.  They're collectively called the "Big Three" or "assessment colleges", because they're the only three accredited schools that allow you to transfer 100% of the credit you need for a degree.  They can be a great way to save money, but you'll have to chart out a more complex course when it comes to what credit you're going to earn.  What you're supposed to do isn't clearly laid out for you like it is at most colleges.
