You know, it's interesting, when I read your first post and then Kizmet's reply, I was very much in agreement with her -- that you should iron out your goals (re: nursing or teaching) before jumping in. However, reading your most recent comments, I think it's truly wonderful that you are ready and hungry to get out there. It's an incredibly smart move, one that seems like is truly for YOU, so I applaud you heartily for that.
That being said, and ignoring that you're not entirely positive of what you want to do (hey, I feel the same way sometimes -- no idea what I'll be doing in 5, 10, 15 years), I don't think that an associate's degree from Axia is terrible at all. Actually, its learning model is quite different than UOP's, from what I understand, and may be a really good fit for you.
For example, the focus of course sequencing early on has to do with helping you develop critical skills that all college students need, like critical thinking and the ability to write effectively, as well as how to use the library to perform research, how to properly reference sources, how to use and evaluate web-based information, etc. Also, Axia doesn't use the learning teams that UOP does (which inspires a great deal of criticism -- I've hated online group work also, personally) and doesn't place the same emphasis on class discussions.
Of course, Axia is rather expensive when compared to a community college who would offer the same level and type of degree, but if price is not an issue, then I say go for it ... and be sure to come back here and tell us all about it! :)
