I am not a pharmacy tech student   but it is a program I have looked into .So I will be looking to see how well they are doing and more importantly if they get a job.

hello guys!!!! i just finish taking the course....does anybody know where i can do my extership??? i know is optional but i couldn't find any place where i can practices??? any in san diego ca area??? help me out guys...thanks

 I saw your posts.  My daughter is a pharmacy tech.  She worked her Sr. year of High School is a hospital pharmacy (the year before the law went into effect that you had to be certified); took the certification test right after H.S. graduation and passed; and went to work for Walgreen's.  She was there for 7 years and was a Sr. Pharmacy Technician.  She recently took a job for an insurance company as a pharmacy tech.   She has to do so many CEU's each year to retain her certification.  I gather there are a lot of different places for pharmacy techs to work; not only in retail or hospital pharmacies.  I believe it is a good career to have.  Does the Penn Foster material include a review for the pharmacy tech certification?  Just curious about that.

You need to get that information from Penn Foster's career service dept. They should be able to provide you with a list of their internship site.

You might try contacting your local Walgreen's or CVS.  It seems like they are always looking for Pharmacy techs, and I believe they have a training program that they put you through, so you could not only find a place for your internship but you may get a job out of the deal, too.

Knowing your state's licensing requirements if any should be your first step.

I just completed the course and am beginning to study/prep for the PTCB Exam.

 

I'm also trying to find somewhere to do my externship.

I am currently doing my Pharmacy tech program at SCI and I love taking the classes here. Not only am I learning something I love about, but I feel like the experience I am gaining here can more easily help me get a job as a Pharm tech.
