Abner, if your current profession ever doesn't work out for you, you might consider working as a motivational speaker or possibly a football coach. Wink

    Re: Aspen University Proctored Exam

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your encouragement.

I think I have done well in Proctored Exam. Just waiting for the results now.......

    1) Exam Duration was 4 hours
    2) It was Open Book Exam. But Internet, module assignments, notes were not allowed. I got a 20 Page printed case study (Taken from Harvard Business School) to read...The case study was covering all the 11 courses in MBA-PM.
    3) There were 11 Questions based on all 11 courses out of which one needed to choose 3 questions of 3 courses. (Course name was mentioned below each question)
    4) We need to write analysis (essay) to answer those 3 questions that we selected. The analysis/essay/answer of each question should be at least 2-3 pages. The total pages of 3 answers should be no less than 6 pages........

    Suggestion:
    1) It is too risky to prepare only 3 courses and appear for an exam. Best way is to study (re-study?) at least 4-5 courses and then prepare for an exam..
    2) Better to read questions first, then select 3 questions and read the entire case study from those 3 questions point of view, highlight the important text then and there so that you dont need to go through all pages again...
    3) Mix your answers from Case study as well as General understanding of that course.

I am feeling very happy that my decision of choosing Aspen University for my Masters proved to be more than worth as I could successfully obtain PMP Certification, convert myself to Project Mgt. consultant during my studies..........

I read in some post about Aspen University Alumini association. Please convey the details so that I can be part of it.

Happy New Year and Good luck to all of you.

    Yogesh.

Happy 2008, Yogesh! Party!!! I'm glad to hear the exam went well for you. Thank you very much for sharing the exam details with us. It's such a relief to have a better idea of what I have to look forward to. I also found your suggestions to be a great help. I haven't heard anything about the alumni association, but I'll keep my ears and eyes open and be sure to let you know if I learn anything about it.

    Re: Aspen University

Greetings everyone...newbie here for the first time!  I'm enrolled in the Bachelor's degree completion program at Aspen, finishing a Criminal Justice degree.  With over one hundred hours of semester credit at schools like Purdue University and Indiana University in the classroom setting, and 20 years of experience in law enforcement, I thought Aspen would be a cake walk to a quick  & easy degree.  Boy, was I ever wrong!  My coursework thus far has been tough, and has shown me how much I didn't know despite my prior education and experience.  Perhaps the independent section is especially demanding, because I can't predict what will be on my (closed book) module exams, but that fact tells me that "teaching the test" is not a practice in use at Aspen.  My graduate plans are still undetermined as of this writing, but I'm enjoying the challenges presented by my coursework so far, and find that the independent format works very well for me.

    Hey JimR! Welcome!

I have to ask -- I'm a Hoosier. Are you a Boilermaker or Hoosier at heart? Smile

    Re: Aspen University

Welcome aboard, JimR!!! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your studies. I'm pursuing an MBA in Project Management through Aspen University. I agree about the challenging nature of Aspen U courses. It seems that with every module there is at least one question that I think I will never be able to solve. Thankfully, after reading the text a half-a-dozen times more, I'm able to come up with the answer Idea. I prefer the independent format as well, but I wouldn't mind trying an intereactive course just to satisfy my curiosity. Best of luck to you!!!!

    Re: Aspen University

Victoria, I have to say I'm more of a Boilermaker...the dramatic majority of my credit hours were completed at the W. Lafayette Main Campus, and IU awarded me a number of hours for coursework completed in the Law Enforcement Academy at Plainfield.  I did complete a computer course at IPFW here in Fort Wayne a few years ago, but my work schedule makes the brick & mortar setting impractical.  On another note, I'd like to extend my thanks to all of you for the warm welcome to the forum...I'd have responded earlier, but I was out playing in the street with my merry little band of coppers.

Congrats! I'm also pursuing an MBA -PM. I just started Marketing Management (the third course) and am thrilled that there doesn't seem to be much math involved =).

     Keep up the good work!

Thanks! For me, courses involving maths work better :)

I hope to finish MBA half way by mid of this year.

    Re: Aspen University

If you prefer math-related courses, you should enjoy Quantitative Analysis. It's funny how people seem to either gravitate toward writing-related or math-related courses. For me, I've always been a good writer but have to put much more effort into succeeding in courses that involve math. The great thing about Aspen University's MBA program is that it allows students to get better at both.

    Re: Aspen University

I agree totally! My first course has provided a good learning curve, and I finished it in 1.5 months. I hope to finish next courses in lesser time. Let us see. And yes, I have picked up Quantitative Analysis as the next course :)

Hey Aspen students, how about making a small group, where we can share books, resources, notes etc?
