    Re: Aspen University

I think sharing notes is a great idea I am finding this site to be more helpful than any other I have found. Are there any students on this site that have taken or are taking the C++ class? I am finding that my instructor is not responding to any of my e-mails. This is only my second class. My first class my instructor responded by the next business day. I have left two messages since Feb 1st and I have yet to hear from him. Does anyone have any advice?

That is riduclous!! I'm pretty sure the policy is for professors to respond within one or two business days. Personally, I would leave one more message (maybe via a different medium) and wait a day or two, and then contact the president, Jerry Alley. I'm sorry to hear about that, how frustrating!

I agree.  A few days is one thing -- online students should be able to work independently.  But two weeks?  There's something wrong there.  Still, don't necessarily assume the worst yet, as it may have just been an email snafu or something like that.

    I agree. I usually get a response within 1 to 2 days.

I recently had a problem also getting an e-mail through to an instructor. Check your spam filters (as the AU office suggested). That could be the problem.

I do agree though, that if you aren't getting a response within a reasonable amount of time, it would be helpful to contact the office.

    Re: Aspen University

Thank you all for your advice. I contacted student services, Alexandra and she contacted my professor it seems that he "skipped over" my messages by accident. He seems to be using gmail unlike my other professors used the university e-mail. He apologized and said that it got lost among the hundreds of other e-mails that he gets each day. I do not know his schedule but it seems that a professor should have a separate e-mail address for their students. The bad part is that after I finally got a response and my homework graded I sent a message regarding the next module Monday night and it is now Thursday and he has yet to respond again. This is getting very frustrating. I have to put myself on a schedule to get this work done alone with the work from my job it is frustrated to be stalled because I can't get any answers.  I wanted to avoid having to resort to contacting the president but it looks like I have no choice. Thanks again guys for listening to me it helps to vent to people who understand the situation.

Since he gets hundreds of emails a day I don't think the issue is that he needs a separate email address for separate aspects of his life but just that he's too busy in general.  I can definitely sympathize with that, but one shouldn't agree to an teaching gig if one doesn't have the time to do the job.

I agree that he shouldn't have agreed to a separate teaching gig if he's too busy to notice student emails. Responding to students promptly (or at least eventually) is part of an instructor's job. Just like any other job, if an instructor can't fulfill all of the responsibilities, then he/she isn't right for the position. Dah411, I'm curious if I might have taken a course with your professor. Maybe you could PM me and let me know who it is.

Quality of education at Aspen University

    Hello,

I live in Canada and I know that I am not the only one "worried" about the recognition and quality of the Aspen MBA.

Few years ago, I joined University of Phoenix and I earned 3 classes. However, I had to drop as I was really disappointed with that specific school. That school was dishonest and I lost money there because they decided to change the rule during the program!

I would like to complete an Online MBA, and at the same time, don't want to spend too much money, as I am not sure paying around 40,000$ gives you more opportunity.  Aspen University seems to be a good compromise for me.

However, if you spend 2 years working smart and hard, you wanna be sure you get some value added at the end. It is good to save money, but only if it brings something more at the end.

I have to make a decision about enrolling or not. For those who have already jump, can you give me some help, some clue. Your feedback and experience would be much appreciated.

Apart from Aspen, does somebody know which University could be a good investment (without paying much more)??

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Thierry - Here's the complete list

If it needs to be a USA degree and it needs to be most affordable then you should look at Peru State.

Here's a list of online MBA programs:

Also, if you're in Canada, have you considered Athabasca University?  They're Canada's premier distance learning institution, and their credentials are sure to be accepted.  I've met some of their people and I thought they seemed pretty dedicated.

    Re: Aspen University

    Hi Dah and all,

I am considering enrolling at ASPEN MSIS program and wanted to know if the courses are really hands-on. Does the currulum focus on the practical aspect of programming? such as writing codes and solving problems via software solution etc?

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Quality of education at Aspen University

    Hello Kizmet,

Many thanks for your reply and for those valuable information.

You seem to be very knowledgeable on all the program offered. I don't consider Aspen University as being expensive. The only thing is if I have to invest some money and 2 years of efforts, I'd better be sure that I am with the right school, in terms of quality of education delivered and recognition, when I will have to send my CVs to some employers.

I don't want any organisation to reject me, because I went with a school that lacks seriousness and credibility.

But from what I`ve read, I don't think this is the case. Everybody seems to be pretty happy to be part of Aspen University.

So once again, many thanks for your kind answer

I'm a recent graduate of Aspen University's MSIT program and currently enrolled in the MBA IM program. I can honestly say that I was both pleased and impressed with the curriculum and materials in all of my courses. I'm not sure about the MSIS curriculum but, in their MS Information Technology program they focused on how to combine the power of computing with the study of managerial know-how and social issues to strategically solve current problems and to creatively research future IT solutions. I had a very diverse group of instructors who were extremely helpful in applying the practical application of my studies to my current job. And, my Capstone Advisor went above and beyond to assist me through every aspect and step of my final project.

My personal opinion is that Aspen has been extremely beneficial to both my educational and professional life. On the graduate level, I think the final analysis is that you only get out of any school program what you put into it.

    Good Luck Wink
