    Irish Studies Certificate-No Financial Aid

I'm interested in getting a certificate through the following program at some point: http://www.irishstudiesonline.org/

However, financial aid isn't offered for this program. With that being the case, what would you guys suggest as for building up some savings to pay for the courses? I've considered a 529(?) plan, but am open to bright ideas.

    AJ,

I don't know about other people, but I'm not sure I have  any magic advice on how to save money.  You mention a 529, and that's about as much as I know that's specific to this sort of thing.

Have you thought about consulting a certified financial planner?

You mean investment wise?  Or do you mean as extra work?  Will your employer pay for part or all of this?  Have you considered applying for the BS program and opting out for the certificate afterwards, is that a possibility?

No, but that is a good idea that I think I'll try. This will probably be a couple of years down the road, at any rate, so I have some time to work with.

I'm currently employed as an independent contractor, so no tuition reimbursement as of right now. That could very well change by the time I'm ready to enroll, so I'll keep that in mind. Applying for the BS program is also a possibility.

Thanks to both of you for your input :)
