Ashworth College or Penn Foster for buisness management

well all I’ve been doing my research and found two schools that I’ve been looking into that offer more or less have the same level in there business management degree but still a little unsure on which one is a better choice so I’m asking if anyone has attended these schools or has some information about these schools. The only thing different I can tell is that ashworth is Online or Correspondence Study and penn foster is only Correspondence.

Thank you if you can help me

Re: Ashworth College or Penn Foster for buisness management

I'm an Ashworth College grad, and I found the correspondence method to be relatively convenient.  They send you a workbook and you answer the assignments in it.  You can submit your answers online and get pretty quick feedback.  It's like the best of both worlds.

As an aside however, Penn Foster courses are ACE reviewed, whereas Ashworth is not.  This will help in transferring credit, though I recommend that if you start a program, you finish it or you risk losing your butt in credit transfers anyways.

Both schools are weapons of "mass education" meaning that they enroll you quickly and run you through the system with little or no support due in part probably because of the sheer number of students they have at any one time.  I was very frustrated with Ashworth College student support.  Whenever I called it would be a miracle to get anyone on the phone if ever.  Emails were seldom answered in less than a week and even then the answers seldom were thorough.

Either school has a quasi customer service where you do not actually speak to an instructor etc.  But then they are both very inexpensive.

For the money, I'd take California Coast University over either, being that you get personal support, inexpensive tuition and you can pursue your degree up through the Masters level.  http://www.calcoast.edu/

That being said, I do not regret my Ashworth College experience as it paid off.  However both of my brothers enrolled and dropped out due to lack of support.  For what it's worth.

I am also considering Ashworth College / Penn Foster for an associate degree in business management

Once I've completed my Penn Foster High School degree, next year.

Are there any problems transfering credits from Ashworth to another nationally accredited College or Universty.

Thanks in advance for some info on that.

Re: Ashworth College or Penn Foster for buisness management

I was able to transfer my AS degree into Southwestern College www.sckans.edu however a lot of schools are not as liberal.  Some that will likely take your credits are:

    Northcentral University

    Ashford University

    University of Phoenix

and a lot of for profit schools.  Schools like UT, OU or MSU will not likely accept a NA undergrad.

    Hi Friendorfoe,

Thanks for your reply and advise.

I was thinking to tranfer a 60 credit AS degree + another 30 credits(CLEP) to Columbia Southern Universty, and finish a Bachelor degree program with them.

I checked their website and the they accept a max transfer of 90 credits and they do accept CLEP credits.

So I need to find out if they accept credits from Asworth or Penn Foster College.

By the way, you know something more about Columbia Southern University. Good or bad news is welcome.

They are Nationally Accredited by DETC, not bad.  But at their current price the Regionally Accredited American Public University which is only $250 an hour and that INCLUDES the price of books.  As far as I know they accept everything you mentioned above...but double check.

Ashworth College is a diploma mill. Check it out on DoE accreditation database,.If any college/university not in the database, do NOT waste your money:

You may want to check that database again.  I found Ashworth University here.  They are not called Ashworth College anymore.

Ashworth University is nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council, an accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and CHEA.  They are definitely NOT a diploma mill.  A diploma mill will sell a student a degree and require little to no coursework.  There are plenty of those out there.  Ashworth is not one of them.

Nope.  I earned my AS from Ashworth College.  When they started offering BS degrees they changed the name to Ashworth University.
