    Touro University International

    Hello,

What are your opinions about TUI?  I recently read about their transcript scandal and am very doubtful about their credibility.

     Thanks for your time.

That scandal had nothing to do with TUI University.  That happened at Touro College, which started TUI, but has since sold it.  TUI has a good reputation overall, so if this is the only thing that is concerning you, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Singh,

As a student at TUI university, I would definitely recommend them. They are the best school that I have attended bar none!

Excellent curriculum, rapid response to questions from staff and faculty, these are just some of my experiences.

The Senior Vice President of my company, who is a MBA Graduate of TUI, recommended them to me.

It is true that the scandal happened at Touro college in New York

I have a cousin who is a Captain in the US Air Force.  In order to make more rank, he needs a degree.  He's enrolled at TUI and seems to like it a lot.

Is it online or is it distance learning like Capella?  I'm trying to make a decision based on time factor and money.  I will be using my VA benefits but I don't want to come out of pocket.  It looks like TUI will be the better value for me.  Keep in mind this will be my fourth grad school If I don't go back to Baker College  Sad

Umm...online learning IS distance learning, or rather a form of distance learning.  Any courses you take via online or correspondence courses are considered distance learning courses.

If time is of the essence, there are schools which offer accelerated masters degrees.  Do a search here at eLearners.

    Re: Touro University International

Here is my personal testimony with TUI in a MS degree program.

Enrollment is a breeze and the counselors work directly with you to ensure your success.  They are very knowledgeable and helpful in every single aspect of the entire process.  They send reminders about registering for the next semester and ensure tuition is paid on time.  This is very important because course materials is on a CD-ROM and is released for shipping after the individual pays for tuition.  Going on my 8th class and received all course materials well before course start date.  Another advantage of TUI is that you get to keep the CD-ROM which is jammed packed with tons of important information pertaining to you specific area of expertise.  No hassles with outdated books or buying and selling books.  Big Smile

The professors are outstanding instructors and valuable mentors.  There are generally two ways to keep in contact with the professor is through the forum or via e-mail.  The forum is a terrific tool that the instructor will ask a question and everyone responds to the seed question.  The students then take over and ask each other questions, that is professionally arguing over the topic or expanding on each others post.  The instructor chimes in to redirect the discussion as required.  I find the forum very fun and we learn from each others past and present experiences.

All instructors are very understanding when it comes to your education and personal issues that may arise.  They will grant you extra time if needed to complete an assignment but the key is to request an extension.  I do not recommend extensions but instead sticking to the schedule and finding time to do your school work.  This will give you an opportunity to really get the most out of the class.  Proper time management, personal discipline and setting goals are key factors one should consider before engaging in an online course.

I am graduating this Summer 08 from TUI with a MS degree in Information Technology Management and truly find this as a challenging and rewarding degree.  TUI is without any doubt a terrific university.  I did attend University of Phoenix (UOP) for my BS degree and after attending TUI, I do prefer TUI over UOP.  The main reason is that TUI does not have a requirement for a group project.  Smile

Hopefully this answers the question and provided more information in helping others in selecting the right university.

    Sincerely,
    Dave

    Re: Touro University International

I'm looking at becoming a student at TUI to obtain my BS-IT Management  however, I was wondering.....

Has any one actually gotten a job, or know some one who has, in the IT Project Management career field with a degree from TUI University? If so, any idea with what company?

Thank you all for your help,

    David

I went there for one semester.  Nice school easy to start, no teams, it was okay.  I would recommend them for an online school.

I was just wondering why you only attended one semester if you recommend the school?

    Dave,

Thanks for your information.  I'm considering TUI due to my MGIBill.  I am currently attending UOP and working on an MBA/MHS.  What form of training do the CD's offer?  Is it just reading of books and writing papers or does it include simulations, scenarios, worksheets, etc.  How interesting do they try to make it?

Also, how heavy is the work load with two classes and is it possible to take three classes if you work full time?  (Time is a consideration for me since my MGIB ends April 2009)

    Thanks,

    Terrie

Hi I considered TUI for my PhD and am still considering the school, I am also taking some courses with them in IT.  You can for the masters programs, take up to 4 courses per 12 weeks, they dont recommend this, but you can do this if you choose to do so.

You have 6 modules per class that are due over the 12 weeks.  The first 5 modules are papers that you have to do and the week 6 module is your final paper for that course.

The CDROM's have all the links, notes, and assignments on them, you will need access to the internet to access the reference links.  There are 2 groups on Yahoo that are full of TUI learners, that you may want to join, to talk to current and past learners:

    Re: Touro University International

I'm signing up for TUI for the Spring Semester (April 7th). I plan to take both BUS306 Quantitative Reasoning and ETH301 Business Ethics.

I'm really looking forward to this. Prior to making my decision, I had submitted my transcripts to three other schools and will say hands down, the advisors and financial aid people over there is awesome. I was blown away by how fast they were able to get everything completed. Even on my official transcripts that arrived at the school. The entire process was very fast and they always took the time to answer all of my questions.
