I will admit that paralegal certification isn't exactly my expertise, but I do know that state licensing varies widely from state to state for pretty much most professions.  Some, like medicine may be more uniform but even then there may be slight differences in licensing.

Re: Any other Penn Foster College Students?

Hi, I got my Assoc Degree from Penn Foster back in 2000. I just started the Bachelor of Business Management and they gave me transfer credits from my previous courses.

But I would like to brush up on the ones they gave me credit for. I no longer have the study units for them. If anyone has the pdf files for the Business Managemnt course, please email me at netzero.

    Thank you very much!

Re: Any other Penn Foster College Students?

I am enrolled at Penn Foster in the Health Information Technology Program.  I was working at a local hospital and they actually reimbursed me for classes once i was able to provide proof that i had passed with a C or better.  I check with Personnel before I began Penn and they said if I walked in off  the street and applied for a job with this type degree, they would honor it.  So, i felt if it was acceptable by a hospital it should work anywhere.

I would like to know if anyone has taken the first semester exam for Health Info Tech?  I would like to know who difficult it was?  Was it timed?  Just like to know a little of someone else's experience with it.

     Thanks.

I realize this doesn't answer your question, but I just wanted to say that this is the sort of research that everyone ought to do before selecting a program! Yes

Yes, I think too often students will get excited and enroll in a school without doing their due diligence and finding out if it will meet their future job or educational needs.  Will employers recognize the degree?  Will the credits transfer to the school I want to go to afterward?  This is the first homework assignment every student should complete BEFORE enrolling in ANY college.

Re: Any other Penn Foster College Students?

Hi: I'm thinking about enrolling if I can get a good feel that I can take these courses and  they are tranferable as well as the school reconized by the regents board .I'm going for my Associates in Criminal Justice and I want these credits to transfer . I know the classes are cheap and it sounds good .buttttttttt. So Are you okay as far as the school goes and did you really check it out? I want the employees to  be able when they look at my resume and say .this school got a good rep . Any suggestions for a beginner or should I just thug it out and go to a university? Thanks

    Vicky,

If you want to transfer your credits, then I would avoid Penn Foster for the sole reason that it is natioanlly accredited.  I would instead attend a regionally accredited school since their credits transfer much more easily.

Well, not exactly.  Yes, Penn Foster College is nationally accredited, BUT most of the courses in their degree programs are also reviewed by ACE.  This means that many, if not most, regionally accredited colleges which accept ACE-reviewed credit will accept coursework from Penn Foster College.  As always, check with the school you want to transfer to afterwards to make sure PFC will meet your current and future needs.

Just because a school is NA doesn't mean you should automatically write them off.

That's the key here.  If you have a sense of what you want to do with a degree (and you should before you enroll in one, in my opinion) then you know who to ask to be sure you're not either making a mistake or missing an opportunity to save a lot of money.

I agree with Steve.  It would be helpful to know where you want to get your BS before jumping into PF's AS program to make sure things will transfer over.

Hello, I have just started my 1st semester in Early Childhood Education.  I am going back to school at the ripe age of 50....It's pretty hard at this stage, but I am going to make it...I know I will.  Where are you in the program?
