PF Graphic Design Program - anyone??

    Hi ~

I'm looking into online programs, and have not decided which school and program to go with.
I'm interested in Graphic Design or Desktop Publishing, and PF's tuition is affordable for me, but I want to make a smart choice and be sure that
I can find work in the field that I choose.
Does anyone have any experience with this PF program, and were you able to find work quickly, using your training?

Any info/advice/tips would be very helpful ~

    Thank you!

    Cathy

I can't speak to the Graphic Design program in particular, but I have been very happy with my studies at Penn Foster College.  The courses are challenging, and although I haven't graduated from PFC I was able to change careers and get a new job just because I was enrolled and studying in a degree program with them.

I work with many graphic designers, and most of them either went to community college or took graphic design in a four year college program.  To me, it looks like many of the courses at PFC are similar.  As long as you have a good portfolio of work to show perspective employers, you can get a job in graphic design.  A portfolio which shows what you are capable of doing is most important.

    Hi Cathy,

I agree with Cajun that with a field like graphic design that your portfolio will be the most important thing.  That said, you could ask Penn Foster to get you in touch with alumni from that program and ask them directly what their experience has been.  Often schools can accommodate that sort of request.

    Good luck,

Actually, I said that, not Cajun.  I appreciate the comparison, although I get the feeling Cajun is a bit smarter than me!

I'm flattered you think so Terry, but spend some time talking to my wife and you may conclude otherwise.  Wink
