Over qualified so no chance of a loan?

I have just started a diploma and I have looked in to inacial aid to assist me with this. The course is a distance learning in which I purchace a module at a time and then book the exam when it suits me, however I was advised to look in to geeting an adult learning grant and I have subsequently been told that I cannot apply and would not be granted a loan because I am over qualified?

Does anyone know of somewhere I can look or someone I can speak to about this and has anyone else had this problem?

I'm not a financial aid expert, and the only thing I can think of what that means is that your income is too high for you to qualify for a Pell grant.

However, no one's going to be able to give you a definitive explanation other than the financial aid people at your school.  If you don't understand things fully, I would ask them for a better explanation.
