    MBA update

After taking the summer off which was very nice I have started back at it. My first class back was operations management that I just finished and I am happy to report an A. My GPA is now 3.86, if it wasnt for that B in Economics I would have a 4.0. It is funny how one lower grade can drop your GPA more than a good grade will raise it. how is that? Anyways I am in Business Law and after this class I only have 3 classes left and will be done in March. I cant wait and hopefully I will finish the rest of the courses with A's.

It doesn't.  If you get a B, then an A, then an A, your GPA will be the same as if you get an A, than an A, then a B.  It just feels like it does because it's when you get the B that you start thinking about your GPA!

    Good luck!

Where are you getting your MBA and what do you like and dislike about the program? I'm always interested in hearing about MBA programs.

    Good luck!!

Obviously from Ashford University which I do recommend. I like the challenge of the courses. I thought that it would not be challenging for some reason but there was a time in Economics that I thought of quitting the program. It was tough but I learned alot. The quantitive part of the school is intense but I feel as long as you try and you study hard you will be okay. I also like that it is all researched based. Too many times in my undergraduate I would just cram for a test and brain dump after. The use of research papers here ensure you understand the subject on more than just the surface. And of the whole program I only really have two dislikes. I don’t like the fact that classes start one after another with no breaks in between. All I am asking is for one week off! But I guess that is what makes it go by so quick. The other is the fact that the semesters are so short it is really hard to study, do the required work, and read everything and not fall behind. I have dedicated 2 hours every day of the week to school work. Some might think it is not enough but for me personally it works.

The school is challenging and I cannot wait to be finished. If you are not comfortable with formulas, numbers, and stats, you might want to reconsider. Don’t get me wrong it is very doable because math was never my strong point but be ready to STUDY and work as many problems as you can. I do not plan for a doctorate, so what is next for me is my Private Pilot License. I’ve always wanted to be a pilot and this is my graduation present from my wife. I cant wait!!!!!

A pilot huh?  Very cool.  Managerial Econ is where I started to doubt myself as well.  That was WAY tough.

    Re: MBA update

Well legal environment is in the bag and I made an A. I have entered my concentration and will graduate in March. I am currently in Contemprary issues in organizational leadership with one week down already. After this class I will have 2 left, not that I am counting or anything.haha

    Re: MBA update

Harris, you're rocking now!  Those concentration courses are all gravy compared to that 6 month quantitative hump that seems to weed so many people out.  When you get to the Kotter book on leading change I recommend reading it cover to cover.  Not because of  your grade so much but because the information contained in that little tome is so good you could make a career just on that one book if you can successfully apply what it discusses.
