    Online trade schools

I see that there are quite a few people interested in online universities and online high school but I don't see a lot of online Vocational education. Does anyone know of any such thing? It seems like a natural fit.

When I hear "vocational" I think of trades like electrician, mechanic, carpenter, plumber, etc. and those strike me as things better learned in person through an apprenticeship or classroom/lab setting.  Am I off the mark?

No that is exactly the type of training I am speaking of. The problem is that the demise of the labor movement has just about put an end to apprenticeship programs (there are open or merit shop apprenticeship programs but they are not overly active).  This type of training does require a great deal of hands on learning but there is also a lot of classroom learning involved.  Almost all Vo-Techs offer the classroom portion of the training and most of the hands on work is done on the job under the tutelage of a experienced Journeyman. With the advent of video delivered online it seems like a natural fit for this type of training.

Ashworth College and Penn Foster College have multiple vocational offerings.  Though they are not necassarily for licensure in any particular state.
