I have an idea for a self taught liberal arts degree and would like to see if there are other people who would be interested in doing an initial run to see if it is possible.

The degree would not mean much to an employer and of course would not be accredited in any way but it would provide anyone interested in a better understanding of basic liberal arts curriculum.  Is anyone interested?

I think initially we would need 5 - 10 people.  The curriculum is available free online but the problem with doing it by yourself is that there is no way to discuss what you are learning and of course no way to quantify what your learning.

 Not everyone is merely interested in education as a means to an end.  They may be interested in simply learning more about subjects like literature or arts history and discussing these things with other like minded learners. Does this appeal to anyone else?  It would cost nothing more than time...like anyone has any of that these days LOL.

Email me and lets talk about it. It may not be possible but I think that it may be a great way to imporve ones self without spending a lot of money to do so!

 

So who or what exactly would confer a "degree" in this circumstance?

I am a lot late .No credits,associate or bachelor's degree issued  and only teaching myself with no meaning to an employer .I am sorry not interested.  

Personally, I don't see any reason why a small group of students and a few experienced mentors to teach them couldn't put together an autonomous liberal arts program.  And depending on where they set up, requirements for issuing degrees varies a lot.  The hard part is accreditation, which obviously serves a purpose, but which as it's currently set up also places high barriers to entry for new small institutions like this would be.
