Is this Paralegal Course Degree Real - Are There Any Students Taking This Degree??

I joined Penn Foster Colloege back in Feb 2008 in the paralegal degree.  Around the same time I started to inquire about other paralegal students and about the school and this degree on this Penn Foster Blog/Forum and to date no one has taken the time to offer feedback about these two issues.  When ever I come on the blog, out of almost 3,000 members there are almost always only 2 or 3 members online.  Is this (PFC) school real??  How come the school does not have a its own "Serious" School Blog where students can exchange ideas??

Re: Is this Paralegal Course Degree Real - Are There Any Students Taking This Degree??

There may be a couple of reasons nobody has responded to your post.  First, there are other Penn Foster Students that read the forums here at eLearners, but perhaps they are in a different program, so they aren't able to answer the questions you are asking.  Also, everybody who reads these forums does so on their free time.  I think I can safely say that everybody who attends PFC has a job, family, kids, and plenty of other things to do, so replying to a forum post probably isn't at the top of the list of their things to do.

At eLearners, people can read posts without signing in, so that may be why it only looks like there are a couple of people checking out the boards.  You can only see the ones that are actually signed in at any given time.  In actuality, there are many more people on the boards than you can see.

By the way, Penn Foster College does have its own blog, but not a forum, which is probably what you meant.  You can check out Penn Foster College's official blog here.  Like you, I do wish the PFC courses were more interactive and allowed for communication between students.

There is also a Penn Foster forum at eLearners, as you know, as well as two blogs:  one about Penn Foster College and the other about Penn Foster Career School.  If you have any specific questions about the Paralegal program, have you tried asking the school itself?  I recommend calling, rather than email.  You will get a much faster response that way.

As for the school being 'real", I'm not sure what you mean.  It is accredited by the DETC, which is an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.  That's about as "real" as it gets.

     Good luck with your studies!

Although, there is this forum, and PFC is the most popular school-specific forum here.  Sorry we dropped the ball on your question!  Yes, PFC is entirely real.

Angel, like the others have said, PFC is perfectly legit, no worries there.  The blog Terry has linked to for you.  Sorry the forums aren't as busy as you'd like but as you can clearly see, our forums are viewable by non-members thus most people simply lurk.  I usually read a forum for months before becoming an active member and I'm sure I'm not alone.

    Why do you think that?

Re: Is this Paralegal Course Degree Real - Are There Any Students Taking This Degree??

I am currently taking up online course for Associate in Paralegal Assistant from Penn Foster. I can say from experience that they are good school to take online degree. I have read in the web that to make sure of the school that offers online courses, it should be listed by the accrediting commission Distance Education & Training Council (DETC).

I live in another timezone and on the other side of the world however I receive my study guides just right on time. Along with my textbooks, they are sending also journals and other related materials to help me in my study.

You can direct your queries from the student center & they are very helpful. Same goes with the professors who answers my questions thru emails. Most of all, they have the most reasonable tuition fees that i found in the web.

Yes, i wish also that its more interactive and communication between students is available. Right now, i am looking for a forum or chat room for those who are taking up paralegal or law so i can get ideas from them and ask questions.

I searched the list of groups on LinkedIn and there's one called "Alumni and Students of Penn Foster College". It has 17 members so far, so there's definitely room for growth.
