What kind of technology?  IT, Engineering?  Mechanical?

As for not liking UofP, is there anything in particular rubbing you the wrong way that may help us recommend schools for you?  Tell us a little about yourself.

WGU is a good program.  Very different in how they approach the learning process but a solid program nonetheless.  What attracts you to them?  As far as software engineering, what attracts you to that program?  What do you do for a living now?  What are your career goals?  Where do you want to be when you graduate?

WinkWhat attracted me to them is the fact that the tuition is less than UOP also it seems like a solid school, I heard good reviews on them, and the certifications they offer besides the degree. When I graduate I want to feel prepared to enter the job force. I want to have learned the skills necessary to  obtain a good job !!!

Fair enough, but be forewarned that these certifications are provided by 3rd party vendors, not the school.  These vendors each have their own requirements to obtain a cert.  For example an A+ exam is pretty much open to anyone, but a PMP exam requires over 7,500 hours of certifiable experience and 35 contact hours of instruction just to apply for the test.  Similar quals. are out there for more advanced certs like the CCIE, etc.  I generally consider WGU to be a great program for someone already working in the field or an experienced professional without a degree.

What other schools outside of UofP and WGU have you checked out?  Have you contacted WGU to find out what they would do if in fact you did not qualify to sit for a certification exam?  Have you ever certified in anything before and are you carrying in qualifications which may speed the process?

If you're looking for the school to provide motivation, WGU may not be the place to start since it's very independent.

As for programs that are software development, there are a number of them.  Start here:

Of those, I particularly like Baker College's because they have a good tuition rate, but I don't dislike any of them.

In addition, Troy University, part of the Alabama public university system, has a Bachelor's in Applied Computer Science that's worth considering.

    Re: UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX

    Hi,

I actually did all of my basic general education classes there. The first few classes we pretty easy, basically the first set of classses are starter classes and you find your way around and learn how to use forums and threads. After getting in my core classes focusin around my degree, the work soon got a  lot more challangeing. One of my classes I am taking right now is Psy/210 and the assignments, even discussion questions require a lot more detail and research . I am glad to be doing much more challenging assignments, But yes in my own opinion it does get harder, at a time when I did not feel challanged, I was thinking of doubleing up on more classes, Im so glad I did not now .Hope all works out for you.

That's a good point Kerri, someone might be fooled by relatively easy intro courses into thinking that the whole program will be easy, then get into trouble by doubling up on harder courses that come later.  Food for thought!
