    AMU Web Resources?

I am just starting at AMU in October pursuing my Masters in Political Science. Are there any good resources with AMU/APU students sharing information about different classes, teachers they liked or didn't like etc?

Sorry not an AMU student but I just wanted to say welcome.  I have a coworker earning his degree at AMU so I'll ask him and get back to you.

I'm not sure how many AMU/APU students we have around here, although I know people ask about them fairly frequently.

    Anyone?

Well, it looks like my co-worker doesn't know of any either.  He said he's not really into the forums but then there is certainly a level of networking within the school itself.

Once you get access to the classes, there is a wonderful forum you can jump on and shoot the sh*t, network, and all that good stuff. Wink

Thanks for the replies, now that I am in the course I do see there are quite a few resources in the virtual classroom. Trouble is I have been so busy doing the class, family and work I have barely had enough time to keep my head above water. Guess when you haven't done classwork/studies in over 10 years that is what happens. :)

It's a lifestyle adjustment and not necessarily an easy one at that.  You'll get the hang of it though, give it time.

Distance learning allows you to manage all those alltogether or otherwise, you would have not been able to continue with your course.

I also did my MBA from an online school. Doing a distance learning program, MBA, with your job and other day to day routines was never easy but I really enjoyed the ease of learning and the time limit of attending the classes. You just plan when you want to study. As this was my 1st time having a distance learning course, I plan to enroll in another degree soon.

online schools are really better than traditional schools.. aren't they..? Stick out tongue

Good luck with your course and the key to success is to keep things organised and scheduled.

    Re: AMU Web Resources?

Online schools and distance learning have their advantages, like the ability to hold a full time job, studying when you can and not so many strict deadlines to stick to.

On the other hand they also have their disadvantages such as the support of tutors and other students not being in the same place as you.
Although most creditable institutes do have an online student presence, it still is not as good as sitting with other course candidates and discussing issues face to face.

I am glad you have found the methods offered by distance learning to be of benefit to you.

Good luck with your other course.

I'm not sure what program you're taking, but I have plenty of serious deadlines in mine! Surprise

Hi yes!  Try ratemyprofessor.com .. most of the faculty have been extensively reviewed in that site.  If you have a chance - take a class with Robert Marlett - he teaches Project Management, Virtual Management etc.. great guy and you will learn a lot!

Also check the online forums which have a link from within the classroom - studnets are not as candid in there but there is a lot of lively activity about various subjects.

    Re: AMU Web Resources?

APU has deadlines every week!  We have discussion boards to do each week for every class and assignments due by mignight Sunday each week. I am taking 4-5 classes every 8 weeks and all of them have deadlines... some professors can be flexible if you are away on business etc.. and post things weeks in advance but deadlines are a total reality for all of my classes.
