How can we improve? Let us know!

    Got a minute? Tell us:

What did you like about eLearners.com?
What didn't you like about eLearners.com?
What do you want to see MORE of?
What do you want to see LESS of?

We want to be your one-stop destination for all things related to online education. Let us know how we're doing so we can improve ... thanks!

I wish there was an easier way to mark threads as already read and an easier to show threads that you have not read yet.

For posts that you have not read, on the Forums Home page:

    http://community.elearners.com/forums/default.aspx

And you look on right hand side of the page, about halfway down there is a Box called "Shortcuts."  There should be a link in there which is "Posts you have not read."

Hi Helen - One thing that is not clear to me is whether you are able to add to your program listings.  On your mainpage there are specific programs listed for various degrees, etc.  We are all aware that there are many more degree options available than those that are listed.  Is this website able to expand it's listings?  Are you willing to list additional programs that are submitted to you or are you limited to the list of your sponsors?

    Hi Kizmet,

Great question. We are ALWAYS looking for new partners to add and try to listen to our users for the kinds of degrees (i.e. fields of study) and types of schools (not-for-profit, schools that accept international students) they want.

Thanks for all your great insights!

Re: How can we improve? Let us know!

Maybe a 'quick fix' would be to add a separate topic in the existing forums for suggested or recommended additions. Having 'been there' a few times myself, I know what a chore it is to maintain a uniform 'look and feel' as well as keep up with demand ;-)  The new forum would be more or less a proposed first draft - with the understanding that
elearners.com may or may not want to include it - for whatever reason.  [There already exist a few URLs in the other forums that you might want to spotlight.]

Once the item has been vetted, it should be removed from the new forum - or at least edited to point to the permanent link at elearners.com

Along similar lines, all the forums (and probably the blogs too) need to be configured to allow a few minutes for editing.

Hi Henry - I like those ideas that you proposed.  I know that it would be more work but I think it would be worthwhile.

A lot of great info on your site?

Re: How can we improve? Let us know!

It seems to be the most pragmatic approach.  My computer users group was planning a conference, and we used an online forum extensively.  More than one person might have the same or similar idea, others might assume that someone else has already suggested their idea and don't bother, any given suggestion might spark others, yada-yada-yada.  With an online record, it's really a piece of cake, everybody can read what's already been contributed and add to it!  There is mystery, no second-guessing.

As you said, it IS a little more work but worth it.

    Hi Henry,

Thanks for all the great suggestions. You're a great contributor here. Let me make sure I understand you - you are suggesting that we add a "How can we improve" thread in each existing forum?

As for the ability to edit a post, that should already be enabled ... let me look into that.

    THANKS!

Re: How can we improve? Let us know!

What I gathered from Kizmet's post, the original request is for some mechanism to add to the other content to the other sections at elearners.com   If they are brief, they could be posted on one separate forum - say 'Works in Progress at eLearners.com'  for example.  After it has been properly vetted, edited or rewritten, and reformatted to fit the 'look and feel' here it can become a permanent addition and linked from the main page as well as the other forums.

You've got a great website, and it can only get better in future as more users find it and make their personal contribution whether it's on the forums or as an article that summarizes their searches for the 'right' school and program, the decision for one school or program over the others, how they and their family have adapted to returning to college, how it has affected family and social life, etc.

The trick is, of course, to make these contributions primarily (if not exclusively) from users, not something to overwhelm the staff with busywork that amounts to little more than frills and eye-candy ;-)

Re: How can we improve? Let us know!

Interesting ... I like the idea of a "wiki," to allow for some collaborative information-building/sharing ... let us look into it and see what we can do!

Keep the ideas coming, folks! We appreciate it and take all your suggestions seriously.
