Re: What would you like to see here at eLearners.com?

I would like to have a comparison tool, so that I can compare schools side-to-side on a list of factors.  Some of those factors include things like (and this is not comprehensive):

    1- tuition

    2- federal student aid available

    3- synchronous versus asynchronous

    4- on campus requirement

5- Average number of students per professor

    6- 24/7 tech support

7- Semester schedule v. rolling week schedule v. at my pace

    8-  Credits accepted/transferrable elsewhere

    9- Accreditation

    10-  Military service discount

    etc, etc

That's a great idea!  "Credits accepted/transferrable elsewhere" might be tough, though, since acceptance of credit is individual to each school.  What they'll accept could be done, but transferable elsewhere would have to be covered under explanations of the different types of accreditation.

Captain Kangaroo (was Re: What would you like to see here at eLearners.com?)

Captain Kangaroo was on CBS for 30 years ('55-'85) then another 6 on PBS.  Mr Green Jeans (Hugh Brannum) died in '87; the Captain (Bob Keeshan) dies in '04.

A little trivia: Bob Keeshan also played 'Clarabell' on 'Howdy Doody' for five years prior to Captain Kangaroo.

It's nice to see they made a lasting impression all these many years later!   Maybe some of us will be that lucky ;-)

Re: What would you like to see here at eLearners.com?

I would sure like to find some college, somewhere who could provide me with online LPN to

RN degree.  I'm an LPN with a full-time job and a son who is going to Jr. College (physically) this fall, but to maintain my job and family benefits, there is no way I can get to "physical" classesmyself   Having come up completely empty so far, being an LPN is turning out to be quite the dead-end job!  Please can someone point me in the right direction if indeed there is a right direction.        Thanks.    Jayne

Re: What would you like to see here at eLearners.com?

    All,

I recommend you start with the search functions under the "Online Degrees" tab at the top of the page.  When you've hit a dead end tell us how far you got, the schools you've ruled out and why, etc.  This keeps us from chasing our tail and of course allows you to explore the site some while exercising those critical research skills.  Big Smile

Jayne, I think you are looking for what is frequently referred to as a "bridge program".  There are several listed in the search function above.

I'm not sure that's out there.  There are RN-to-BSN programs, because RNs have completed all of the clinical aspects of study.  But even if one is already an LPN, becoming an RN involves a lot of clinical experience one just can't do remotely, doesn't it?

Steve, I think you're right.  Here in Texas the local colleges have "bridge" programs, but I checked and they cannot be done online.
