MBA IT Management at WGU - 1st Term

Completed my first term in MBA IT Management. It was an interesting experience.

I took 2 courses in Leadership. One was assignment based and the second had an objective exam. For the assigment based course I enrolled in Wasatch E-learning course. It helped me keep to the schedule and discuss subject matter with other students taking the course. I tried to keep to a 2 hour daily routine and when possible added an extra hour. The first course that included writing 5 essays took me 9-10 weeks. It was quite hard to keep up with the job and the course but I was happy when it was over.

For the second course I followed the included schedule that charted out the complete course. I studied for about 8 weeks before I scheduled the exam. Again I kept to the same routine. I took notes during those 8 weeks. In the 2 weeks before the exam I just went through my notes.

Overall, I think if I can keep to the routine the courses will be completed without too much difficulty. But it is not an easy task to keep to the routine specially with an IT job that requires supports at unearthly hours.

Something that I miss at WGU is interaction with peers. There are some forums but I haven't explored them fully yet. Plan to do so during my next term.

Thanks for the report.  I do encourage you to interact with other WGU students where possible, it helps with motivation.  At least forums help me.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted.  Good luck.

That's interesting -- one of the things I didn't care about much with my program was interaction with peers.  I guess it's my curmudgeonly personality!  But seriously, sure, I can see how if I were in a program that was open ended about when the work could be done that keeping touch with fellow students might keep me on track.
